Discrepancy in Wolf's lamb mask between model and 2D art (Could a Rioter please explain?)

I asked this during the Q&A but didn't get an answer. Not sure if Riot is dodging the question.

Here's what I'm talking about: compare the splash and icon Kindred with their model. In all official 2D art, Wolf has the white lamb ears on his mask along with the horns. However only the horns are present in the model.

I think without the ears, it doesn't look like a lamb mask. Also I understand that sometimes champion modelling is difficult due to tech limitations, but then why have the ears in the art? Some official Riot feedback on this would be much appreciated.

I am way more interested in why the model has real white teeth instead of the ripped black ones from the splash

I wasn't on this pod, but I can probably answer this question. Champ creation ends up being a very iterative process. Little details like that will change often and frequently. Because of the various timelines for the products and promotions, the actual champ will often have lots of little details different than it's supporting materials. More importantly, we ultimately always strive to have the ideal depiction of a champion for the individual medium it is represented in. --Thus a splash or artwork will have more detail than the game model-- because your interaction will be different. I.e. what is a needed detail on the splash-- can often be visual noise on the in game model.

bumparoo, not a single answer on this has been given since their announcement

I was hoping they would fix that before they were released. From this, the new assassin Yi splash and Jade dragon Wukong splash, I'm starting to think riot is starting to make champs not look like the splash on purpose. Sure, riot might be updating those 2 later and the change might be what the skins will look like after they update them, but Kindred just got released so the chances of them fixing that now is slim... at least for another 2-3 patches.

It probably has to do with the overall visual area that adding the lamb ears would take up making wolf look like he was only a floating mask and not a three dimensional floating entity. The ears would end up flattening him which would not look very good.

I have to stand still in game and zoom in to notice it. I'm thinking there's other things on the plate to work on xD

Many ops have been mad like this (even from me) unfortunately with no answer

you would think the splash team and champion creation team would communicate more

I'm fairly certain the mask ears were added in the artwork after people comented on how they couldn't tell that it was a lamb mask if it wasn't said outright. But because this happened during their teaser, Riot didn't have time to change the model.
