Y'know what, why not, let's do some Taric lore speculation.

I just felt like making this post. I'm hoping they keep much of Taric's quite... Wistful and somewhat melancholy personality intact for the rework, and so I'm actually kinda thinking Taric will be a more good-guy Aspect of the Targonians compared to how the other Aspects have seemed so far. My current prediction is that the Aspect that Taric has/is/whatever is the one that MADE the crown that controls Aurelion, perhaps some sort of blacksmith/creator guy (insert your "hard metal rods" jokes here, please), but either did so under orders or has since had a change of heart. Because it feels like it'd be a bit... Meh if all the Targonian aspects were kinda just... Dicks. Granted we don't know too much about the Aspects themselves, at least not the ones who're Champions, so... Eh. I mean, even the Void has less malicious individuals (Khazix).

I can't see them making Taric a villain. He's always been one of the more compassionate champions, he's just pretty calm and serene and doing his own thing. Although, Trundle and Poppy's reworks brought them some pretty significant personality changes, so I wouldn't discount it entirely.

Personally, I don't think he's the one who made the crown, just because Aurelion doesn't have many lines for him. If he was literally the one who enslaved giant space dragon man, I think he'd be a LOT more angry than just calling him tacky, especially given how many lines Aurelion has. My money is on gemcraft being made into a Targonian tradition sort of thing (I believe New Poppy says something to that effect?), and Taric just being a recent practitioner of it who was made an aspect. Probably by climbing the mountain, same as the others.

Where the aspect fits into it, I'm not sure, maybe it's the one who made the crown, but again, I feel like Aurelion would be a lot more bitter in his lines if that was the case.

I would expect that Taric is going to be the complementary pair to Pantheon just like Diana is the complementary pair to Leona.

I could definitely see him being the forger of the crown that binds Aurelius Sol. However, I think there's more to the story than what we've heard from Aurelion. Remember, each story is told from that character's point of view and if you look at the scene where Diana talks to the Solari elders the same incident is described very differently in Leona and Diana's story.

My guess is that the Targonians asked Aurelion for help and he refused, considering their problems with the rift creatures beneath him. Unable to defeat the rift creatures on their own, the Targonians enslaved Aurelion "for the greater good" in order to save Runeterra from an invasion of void monsters.

However, I'm sure this decision didn't sit well with the Targonians conscious even if they considered it necessary for their survival. This of course leads to their hold on Aurelion weakening and when he does break free (and you know he will) I doubt he will help the Targonians close the next rift.

This will set up the next lore event, the invasion of the void monsters.

We do not know if Aurelion is good or bad. Remember he may be evil, we just know his version of the story yet. I think Taric could still be from another world but Aurelion destroyed it. So i could understand Taric even if he is a good guy. Maybe he just doesn't want Targon to be destroyed too.

But what the hell do i know, just my expectation.

He is probably an actual targonian from the hidden city on the mountain. The ones responsible for subjugating aurelion sol. It isn't clear what they are, if they're all aspects or are they people too or what.

But we know they've spread to other worlds, throwback to tarics old lore. And we know they used gem magic to bind aurelion sol to them.

He might not be an aspect inhabiting someone he might just be a legit targonian

Weird to me that you think all aspects are dicks, it seemed like a blessing to leona and Diana, who aren't bad people, before we found out the aspects come from an advanced civilization that enslaves dragons, not a mystical spiritual force

I don't remember the exact details, but he was given a crown? If I had to guess, Taric may have been involved in that. Crowns are usually adorned with gems and other fascinations. It wouldn't surprise me if Aurelion Sol returning brings Taric out from wherever he may be.
