Ok i cant make any better title for my question cz this one summs it up. What the hell is going on? I just found out what summoners are in garbage can with institute of war and it made me very sad and confused. I mean i had some logical point why i am fighting on Rift-like 3 mages are started this this fighting show with bunch of dudes to stop all wars and solve everything in nearly peacefull way bla-bla-bla... Now what i have? So im beating crap out of enemy Lucian as Annie sup cause she is worlds smallest racist? And he teammed with Tresh cz he is not in girls anymore? And i have giant space dragon as my jungler cz he have nothing better to do in his spare time?

Summoners are gone, old lore gone so why are champions fighting in rift? Can someone get me any official lore or explanation for League of Legends because i cant find anything on my own.

Champions do not fight in the rift, the game is not canon. Simple as that.

Well mate, you are several years late to this news.

Basically, Riot decided that they were separating lore from gameplay. There is no Institute of War. The champions, as far as we know, are not and never have fought on Summoner’s Rift. Other than some vague comments from rioters stating that summoners and a location like Summoner’s Rift do exist there is no reason to assume any of the old lore is relevant.

You are playing on Summoner’s Rift with a champion because you are playing a game. Nothing more.

And I know, that can be a little disappointing with how narratively synchronized games have been getting. With games like Dark Souls that bake all their mechanics into the lore. But, Riot decided they were not following that path.

Frankly, they decided that they did not want to be tied to the IoW, which really only lends itself to a pseudo-political sports narrative. Which, while theoretically interesting, the writers seemed not to know what they were doing with it which gave us things like a magazine discussing if Ashe was cheating on Tryndamere or other such trite bull.

Instead, they’re mostly focusing on location building and throwing in a bunch of ancient magical world ending threats tied to some more personal narratives. Not all the changes are good. Some aren’t even mediocre. But there is at least an attempt to make meaningful stories now.

IIRC Riot has said that Summoners still exist in the new lore to some extent, but they haven't revealed how.

Game is no longer canon. Riot decided that basing all champions off the institute of war was limiting their champion design and lore.

Lore was eliminated to "free up story space and provide more interesting stores".... yeah, about that.. so many stories we couldn't have told with all that old lore, woo.
