Which champions could use new base splash arts?
Hello all! I'd like to take some time to discuss one the greatest things about League: its splash art! This post might be lengthy and take some time to process, so take your time! Please no disrespect or toxicity here, I just want to share my opinion!
What do I consider outdated? Outdated simply means that it's not up to League's modern standard for splash arts. Older splashes really show their age after a while. Obviously a splash from 2009 won't match with 2016 standards. I find that League's "good" art takes off in 2013. From 2011 and earlier, most splash arts are just not up to League's current standards. For skins/base arts released in 2012, they can swing either way.
Rengar is League's youngest champion to receive a new splash. Going by this logic, it is okay (but not necessarily accurate) to say that anybody older than Rengar is qualified for a new splash. Similarly, it is more or less okay to say that anybody younger than Rengar has a good splash. I will just use Rengar as a reference to signal where League started releasing champion's with modern standards for splash arts.
CHAMPIONS WHO HAVE UPDATED SPLASHES:
Let's start by ruling out the newer champions. I think anyone from Kha'Zix to Ivern has an amazing splash: (29)

Champions who have updated splashes drawn in 2013 and later (in order of when they got their new splash): (65)

Updated and drawn in 2012: (14)

Updated Chinese Splashes: (3)

CHAMPIONS WHO COULD USE NEW SPLASHES:
Updated in 2013, but need updating again: (2)

Outdated and drawn in 2012: (6)

Champions that have never received a new splash art: (12)

Champion that is younger than Rengar: (1)

Lastly, low-quality Chinese Splashes: (1)

So, those last 22 champions could possibly get new splashes. Do you guys have any top hopes? I'm personally hoping for Varus, Leona, Skarner, Syndra and Draven! Again, be nice and leave comments!
