Because the moon is beautiful, it always is revered. Neeko "So beautiful! Like moonlight on fresh snow." Taric "Who could have guessed the Aspect of the Moon would be so beautiful?" And the moon is loved and sympathized by many people. The sun is not loved by anyone except the Aurelion Sol, which is a star itself. Taric "So misguided, those Solari."

Even Pantheon is strict with Leona, and he says gentle words to Diana. The Pantheon rework is great, but I had hoped that the Solari, which has been described as a villain, would see the light of day, but Leona / Solari is even more isolated. I am disappointed. honestly its another flaw in the retconning of moral standings.

in the process of (for the best), making things more gray, they've instead simple made it go from black and white, to white and black. for example, the lunari became wrongly persecuted, while the Solari became unequivocally evil up to this point.

kayle and Morgana is much the same in terms of how their color stories portray them (due to comparison. by itself, kayle's is fine). However, the devs at least went out of their way to show that it really is gray between them with posts on these forums.

hopefully they do the same for the solari and lunari

In the best case scenario, and the direction I like to believe Leona's lore rewrite always hinted at, was that if anyone could right the wrongs of the Solari it would be Leona. As the dominating faith of Mt. Targon, all of the other tribes would follow in her example.

With Pantheon's rework I think Riot is hinting at the 'change' to coming to the Targon faction. For so long the fanbase has been obsessed with the Aspects and the celestials, but I think we're being told that the stories that should matter to us, are those of the tribes of Mt. Targon and how they learn to live without depending on their "gods". If Targon falls, just as the Aspect of War did, then the responsibility immediately falls on the shoulders of Mt. Targon's leadersLeona Diana Pantheon ZoeSoraka .
