Or does anyone else think that the League story was cool. The one with powerful summoners? I was reading the stuff and it makes me feel so much more engaged into the game. Sad that it's not canon anymore. But I guess it leads to complicated stuff like why are we able to control godlike beings
...we could pull a Fate/Stay Night thing though.
Summoners and the League of Legends were ultimately very constraining for the lore. I'm sad it's gone, because it IS a very cool story on its own, but I understand why.
Overall I'm ok with them retconning the summoners. I never felt integrated into the story,as there were countless summoners and you were essentially just doing some unnecessary matches.
Not to mention that summoners really created some logic holes in the world,as it would be really broken if someone outside of the institute used it(and lets be honest here,every summoner from every region being loyal only to the league wouldn't make sense either).
The only thing I'm really missing is having some sort of arena where everyone comes together.
I'm still one of many who would rather have seen the Institute fall, rather than be retconned, and have Runeterra deal with the power vacuum.
The summoners were powerful, but they were not all powerful, and the void was still a very real threat. Perhaps the Void overran the Institute, or perhaps Aurelion or another powerful character showed up and had their way with it, destroying the most powerful summoners and leaving only remnants of what was.
I still think the old lore could be made to fit with the new one, but every time they change the lore of old champions it gets harder to piece together a usable story.
I didn't like the summoners, but at least the JoJ was more worth anticipating for. Waiting for a new episode of it every few weeks or so...... Consistency is a huge problem for this new lore.
