A Jax main's thoughts on Jax's background

Hey guys, my id is Skippèr and I have over 500k mastery points on Jax . I always read about the big guy's lore and now have couple questions. 1.What race is Jax ? At first I thought that he was just a human that was corrupted by void. (Based on his skin color). In lore None Shall Pass Jax said that

His robes were heavy, but the sun’s warmth didn’t reach the mottled and oddly hued skin beneath. No part of his flesh was visible, which was probably just as well. He wasn’t even sure what his skin looked like anymore.

I always thought this was a hint to that he has been corrupted by void and decided to cover it for good, but riot did confirmed that's not true. Here's the thread

And then there's been theory saying that Jax is a sand troll, being almost the same species with Trundle , I can see the reasons why, for that they both have 3 fingers and they both have a purple-ish color of skin. Jax have purple but that could just be that he lives in a different place. Jax 's real name, Saijax Cail-Rynx Kohari Icath’un gives us 2 more clue. Sai-Jax basically means "Sand Jax" in shruima language. and Icath'un was given to those warriors who was not born in Icathia but joined up later, which Icath'or being those who was born there. So we know that Jax's real name contains "sand" and he was not born in Icathia. Everything seems to match!

However, in-game model shows that Jax is smaller than Trundle .. Jax is always described as a giant in his lores, but his size in game is identical to LeeSin, a human. On Jax 's mighty jax skin, you can see the size of his armor is size XXXXXL. Trundle also has 3 toes, comparing to Jax having only 2. People claimed to see Jax 's face in his God Staff model and looks like a troll with 2 huge teeth, but God Staff and God Fist is resembling Buddhism culture, which Jax is wearing the mask of a demon-god in Buddhism.

But, here's where all hell breaks lose.

Jax's Jaximus skin, different to all his other skins, have his left arm exposed without any kind of cloth. And it's a human skin color. Not purple, but a little bit tan, typical of those who lived in the desert. Jax also have skin which contains heavy middle-east elements... But he still only have 3 fingers and 2 toes.

I am calling Riot for help. Please explain :(

2.My opinion on Fiora vs Jax Fiora is described as a duel specialist with no losses. Which is pretty damn scary if you think about it. Jax, on the otherhand is a ex-elite mage warrior who survived countless battle against shurima-god warriors, and lived since then. Based on the lore, that's centuries ago... And Jax has also a record of not losing any duel if he uses a real weapon. So Jax was able to 1v10 with a real weapon on battle field, while Fiora being specialized in a 1v1 fight. In melee duels, the one with longer reach weapon will have an advantage. Before Jax starts to use his not-so-trustworthy lamppost, his weapon was described as

He shifted the long, axe-headed polearm slung at his shoulder. The weapon was immense, its ebony haft carved with the names of his forebears, and the blade a slab of razor-edged bronze. Few of our group could even lift it, let along swing it, but Saijax was a master of weapons.

And he chopped a god-warrior's head off with it. Just like Nasus and Renekton . So I would say that if Jax was allowed a real weapon, Jax would win in this fight. (In cinematic A New Dawn, you can see Darius , who was known for his excellent combat skills on warfield, struggling to take down Jax, until Jax 's lamppost broke and was hit by Nautilus .

3.Kaisa & Jax ? Jax's current goal is to find someone who's worthy enough to stand beside him and fight void-creatures. When Kai'Sa was released I was so excited because I thought the big guy is about to find that worthy friend. Which Kai'Sa actually have a interaction with Jax!!!!

"A lamp's not gonna do it, Jax"

OMG! IS KAI'SA WHO JAX been looking for? (I do believe that Jax will use a real weapon against void creatures though.)

Calling Rioters! We need some explain

I mean sand trolls are probably just smaller than ice trolls.. I mean not every troll is the same size, just like the species of cats arent the same size(cat-lion)

Maybe its an adaptation thing. Ice trolls are larger than Sand Trolls and have not lost one of their toes during development (probably due to keeping up right easier with how large they are). Jax being a Sand Troll would explain his strength, and possibly even his age.

  1. In-game model sizes are irrelevant. Malphite is supposed to be the size of a mountain but he's not even bigger than Tahm Kench.

  2. Skins are non-canon.

For now, Sand Troll definitely seems, from my perspective, to be the most likely.

Worthy warriors... Kassadin and Kai'sa are likely yeah. I'm hesitant to say Fiora would join him as she still has unfinished business in Demacia...

unpopular opinion: Out of all of League's roster, one of the champions I could picture fighting alongside Jax is Syndra. That's definitely not gonna happen, but she has nothing really keeping her in Ionia, and the anti-Void crusade is one of the few challenging things for her and her immense powers.

As the self imposed Jax lore expert, these observations are spot on! I personally think Fiora and Jax lore relation feels underdeveloped and a bit awkward, as for Kai'Sa I think it really fits. This would also work with Kassadin.

Jax's race being revealed would be a really big reveal. Honestly, personally I hate the idea of him being a sand troll. I don't think Jax's race will be revealed anytime soon if not ever.

I think Rengar could be the worthy warrior jax is looking for.

Well, in game sizes are not really important as far as i know. Yordles look like giants in comparison with Kayle for example.

And dont take skins as canon for the main lore, Sion is not a robot even is he has 2 robotic skins, there are tons of skins for Shyvana that change the color of her skin, etc.

Also, you have to consider that Jax needed help to cut the head of that Ascended.

you say trundle is big? trundle is the fucking king, i think he is way bigger than normal trolls, like garen is a huge human. look at trundles original model, before rework btw. there are smaller trolls 100% https://leagueoflegends.fandom.com/wiki/Trundle/History?file=Trundle_TraditionalSkin_old.jpg

Guys i love the idea of jax beeing a troll, why not. give him a rework and make him cool pls. im a j ax main since s3

I believe one of the warriors Jax is looking for is Fiora. If you break down the story "None Shall Pass" its pretty obvious. The word "worthy" is mentioned several times throughout his story. Who's select quote also involves that word? Fiora's.

And Fiora is no ordinary fighter. shes prodigal. While she was still a teen she beat her father who was described "as a fine swordsman" but his young daughter was already better than him, better than the head of a noble house who would likely be a better fighter than a common soldier. And that was years before they meet. Enough time for her to become the most feared duelist in an entire continent. Shes lost track of the people shes killed there's no many, and if her story duel speaks anything to how her fights normally go, she wins within a matter of seconds, showing how skilled she is. Fiora is also extremely intelligent, she wouldn't just charge in like the other Demacians in the story.

They wouldn't have two characters who are "legends" meet for no reason. Jax meets Fiora on the bridge because this is where there stories tie together, shes (at least one of) the warrior hes looking for. Riots not gonna have them meet just for Jax to kick her ass and then leave disappointed, that wouldn't make any sense.

Why would they mention in a story "a warrior worthy of fighting at his side in the battles against the monsters from beyond would need to be adaptable" and then bring in another champion, just for the other champ to not be the one hes looking for. Especially a champ who has over come every obstacle put in their path before? Just because Fiora isn't a part of some military doesn't mean she wouldn't know how to fight outside of a duel. If its believed that the monsters from beyond are the void, then they'd likely attack like they do in the freljord story where the three ice born descend into below the howling abyss. Where its deadly creatures attacking in small packs or alone, Fiora wouldn't be worth her salt as a fighter if she could literally only one v one, and I highly doubt thats the case.

I don't think one is better than the other or would defeat the other, it's likely that these two, like how Olaf and Sejuani fought to a stand still, would also find equals in each other. Champions dont meet in lore just for it to be insignificant. Just like Nasus and Renekton meeting Xerath was nearly catastrophic, and Thresh and Lucian meeting, Or Illaoi with Miss Fortune, all of it was significant, and it was more than just two champs meet, one beats the shit out of the other and leaves.

Also, its important to not that Jax did not kill the god warrior on his own, his entire unit was there, yes he struck the killing blow, but he didn't do it on his own. As well as in the fight between Jax and Darius, it doesn't have enough time to show them really fight, they push against each other a bit, and thats it. Its cut too short to really get anything.

Nasus Renekton : doesn't matter, we both kill you

Jokes aside... longer range with weapon doesn't mean you auto-win a duel. There's a reason for so many variations of swords and short weapons. If fiora were to get inside jax's blade reach (using his pike/halberd/poleaxe) she can shred him faster than he can defend himself. But to get inside means one amazing parry/deflection or dodge against a much heavier weapon wielded with power and strong momentum. Thus likely a deflection by fiora to throw the blade off course to pass harmlessly through the air followed by some kind of lunging maneuver to force him to step backwards rather than immediately launch a strike at here. This then gives fiora the time to launch a more precise strike that gets through jax's defenses and score a meaningful hit. One might not be enough, but it's a test of skill to see if she can land enough and avoid jax's thrusts and swiping blows. Honestly probably like the opening battle for Achilles with Brad Pitt playing him in the movie Troy except more protracted. Fiora reprises the role of Achilles - being the more agile one but with less brute strength.
