okey just read the story of the mecha skins and they even mention kaiju plus the mecha aatrox looks like the main mech from the movie is this just me or is this inspired by pacific rim

Well, moreso just the whole mecha genre, of which Pacific Rim is one of the largest (and most recent) mainstream hits.
