My dad and I watched it this morning, and we both looked at each other at the end and, in perfect sync, both said "Death".

So, if I may conduct a bit of theory,

"Everything must meet this man, so they shunned him." Death is something that all loving things must meet at one point or another. It is also the one thing that all living things try to avoid. We eat to not die, we build houses to not die, everything we do is in the pursuit of prolonging life. Therefore, we "shun" Death.

However, "He took an ax and cut himself in two . . . So he would always have a friend" takes a different turn compared to Death. Classic personifications of Death make him out to be a cloaked man in dark robes (insert Grim Reaper inspiration here) who comes to your side and walks with you as you pass into the next world. In this trailer, it is confirmed that the man was lonely, suggesting that it is not Death after all (who walks with people as they die and is therefore not lonely, I'm assuming), but something else.

There is a fable by Aesop called The Wolf and the Lamb, and the message of the story is a person who seeks power by means of force will do anything to justify their actions. In the story, the Wolf accuses the Lamb for several "crimes" that the Lamb did not commit to justify eating him. The Lamb proves that all accusations are false, and the Wolf eats the Lamb on the grounds that he is hungry and does not want to delay his meal. The new champion could have relations with factions on Runeterra, and was shunned because of a crime it committed. So, to not be lonely anymore, it cut itself with an ax to "always have a friend" and to maybe punish itself for the crime.

Just some ideas that popped into my head. It is fun messing around with theories like this :3

I doubt were going to have a tax collector champion, lol! Although, it could be a very humorous skin im sure, once he comes out.

I had the idea maybe its a champ that one twin utilizes ad and the other uses ap with a switch between the two as being a toggle and the ult being a damage spell or effect that uses both ap and ad equally
