Current status for the skin splash art update treatment

Hey guys, Moonboy65 here bringing you another update on the current status for the skin splash art update!!!

The recent release of the Ryze rework came with a brand new set of splash arts, Reav3 has also confirmed that they have started early work on Sion, Yorick and Fiora!!! With so many champions left, I bring you the current list:

Alistar - Black, Golden, Matador, Longhorn, Unchained and Infernal

Annie - Red Riding, Annie in Wonderland, Prom Queen, Frostfire, Reverse and FrankenTibbers

Fiora - Royal Guard and Nightraven (NOTE: the art team has begun early work on them)

Gangplank - Spooky, Minuteman, Sailor and Toy Soldier

Garen - Sanguine, Desert Trooper and Commando

Heimerdinger - Alien Invader, Blast Zone, Piltover Customs and Snowmerdinger

Karma - Sun Goddess, Sakura and Traditional

Karthus - Phantom, Statue of Karthus and Grim Reaper

Kassadin - Festival, Deep One, Pre-Void and Harbinger

Maokai - Charred, Totemic, Festive and Haunted

Miss Fortune - Cowgirl, Waterloo, Secret Agent, Candy Cane, Road Warrior and Mafia

Morgana - Exiled, Sinful Succulence, Blackthorn and Ghost Bride (probably some small changes)

Nasus - Galactic, Pharaoh, Dreadknight and Riot K-9

Renekton - Outback, Bloodfury and Rune Wars

Sion - Hextech, Barbarian, Lumberjack and Warmonger (NOTE: the art team has begun early work on them)

Sivir - Warrior Princess, Spectacular, Huntress and Bandit

Sona - Muse, Silent Night, Guqin and Arcade

Twitch - Kingpin, Whistler Village, Medieval, Gangster and Vandal

Warwick - Grey, Urf the Manatee Warwick, Big Bad, Feral, Firefang and Hyena (once his rework arrives that is)

Yorick - Undertake and Pentakill (only Yorick gets updated in that one) (NOTE: the art team has begun early work on them as his rework is coming soon)

Let me know which champion(s) are you most excited to see, I have been following these ever since the Poppy rework and look at were we are now. As of today, 7 champions have received new skin splash arts, and they are not stopping!!!

Sona, Alistar and Sion are some of my most played supports and I am pretty excited to see how they will updated their splash arts.

As a note. ALL of Warwick's splashes will be updated. Also I forgot to add Ashe to the list back when I posted a couple months ago as she got a minor VU as well. Also, Yorick Base :)

There will likely be a few one-offs that come out here and there too. We didn't get through all the 80-90% completed splash we had in the large release that came out right before the Trist/Trundle/Nidalee splashes. Expect to see those pop up every so often, with maybe a couple very soon.

Any chance Sejuani is on the list for getting a brand new set of splash arts? I feel like she should be taken into consideration as she also got a VU many years ago. I'd imagine it's only three anyway (Sabretusk, Darkrider and Traditional)

Arcade Sona has very fresh splash. I think it will not be changed for few years.

Out of curiosity, are any of Teemo's splash arts on the list to be updated at some point? I would really like to see a new Cottontail Teemo splash. :D

Same the pastels reminded me so much of easter but if the old one doesn't come back, I'd still like to believe that someone at Riot can surely do better than what they have now.

Ashe needs her skins to be remade, not just the splashes. They're recolours...

But why update Nightraven Fiora?That splash looks pretty good and up to date.IMO Headmistress should be updated instead.

I want to see Malzahar's skins updated but i also want shadow prince to have sand particle effects LIKE IT DOES IN THE SPLASH ART.

Both of those splashes look BEAUTIFUL, by the way. Prestigious LeBlanc is one of my favorite skins in the game and the artistry on the Spellthief splash is quite breathtaking. Kudos to those artists that worked on them!

I should probably go through all the splash arts you guys updated and make sure none of them actually deteriorated in quality. Most of them are SICK, Loving them a lot. But I think I do recall seeing Groovy Zilean's new splash.... And he looked like a meth head instead of a pot head.

And speaking of zilean, wasnt he based on a real rioter or something? Someone who said that VOLI would never join the league?

Groovy Zilean wasn't made by Riot artists. It was part of the global unification process.

Ah that's probably a huge difference for you guys internally but we players a Just see a lot of new splashes, I didn't realize the art updates were part of 2 different initiatives.

How about I j just hold one guy responsible for all splash updates ( IE you). Will make it easier to argue , I mean politely discuss , all splash art changes.

So to confirm there was a splash art globalisation project where splash arts would be the same internationally. However this thread is referring to a different splash art update project ?

Overall some of the arts are really stunning ( a notable example is temple Jax. Damn I played him yesterday wtf guys. Why can't angler Jax look this cool on his splash ?) . But you're working on updating splashes for a different reason ? Guess technically this falls under updating champions eh ?

Idk I'm having a hard time complaining about your products .... Think you've really stepped your game up for the past few releases. Ryze is a little over tuned but I think he's really fun ATM. They only thing is maybe his VO and login music is a little lackluster for your signature champ.

the global unification was not a splash art update, as much as a sweep where the took arts from some regions and used them in all regions. the splash art update is where new, totally fresh pieces of art will be given to old splash arts that are lacking quality or cohesion with the current vu of the champ (as this list shows almost all splashes will eventually be updated)

Sorry for the confusion, but do you mean those Ashe skins are getting updated splash arts? Or are they getting new in-game models/textures? Because I feel those skins already have really high-quality splashes; however, Queen Ashe in particular doesn't have a very modern model/texture.

what about Ghost Bride Morgana? i honestly don't think it needs updating for a skin from 2013

Yeah, we have actually taken ghostbride off the list for a new splash. We might touch it up a bit though if/when we get to Morgana splashes

Please reconsider woad. I love the way it looks right now and dont think it needs to be changed. Only reason iv bought it

This is just me being curious but will DJ Sona get reworked? I find the in game model is a bit old compared to kindred or aurelion sol even if they arent even skins

Dj sona is a recent skin that lives up to current quality standards. It does not remotely need updating
