Why is Kindred's Ult a Heal When They are Death?

It seems strange that their ult saves people's lives rather than end them. Like it would make way more sense if it killed all enemies below 10% hp rather than save them. I get that death might want to preserve some beings from dying too early, but ,based on the "A Good Death" story, kindred doesn't seem like they have any role in saving lives. They seem happy to kill, and though they don't kill the one girl at first, they don't save her either. Hopefully the rest of their lore explains why kindred should have an ult that saves their enemies.
P.S. This is about kindred's lore not gameplay. Gameplay wise the current ult is probably a good idea IDK.

They can decide when and when not to kill someone. It's no much as "saving" as "prolonging the inevitable".

Its about the removal of death in that zone. Kindreds biggest strenght isn't being able to kill people(which pretty much everyone can do),but it is deciding to not let someone die even if the person would normally.

Its pretty much like an air mage with the ability to remove the air from a certain place to suffocate his/her victims.

Actually you have to look deeper into the story to understand it. They didn't kill Magga because it was not her time to die. And if you paid attention, it was actually bandits that came and killed the traveling performers. Kindred is the embodiment of death, and death is the end of life, the point of which life stops. They do not themselves kill people, they are the ones that make it so that you do actually die when you suffer a fatal wound. Without them you could have your head chopped off yet still be alive. Because they are death, and without death you cannot die.
