Unpopular Opinion: Viktor's new lore is great!
Since reading this lore I've been searching around trying to find people's opinions of it and was almost saddened when I saw the amount of negative feedback from both this and his involvement in Jayce's lore. This new view of Viktor is probably one of my favourite lore to date. Being mostly a grey character in terms of alignment, he definitely comes across as this Chaotic Good character who wishes to do good, but disagrees with the way most people do the same.
In both his, Jayce's and Blitzcrank's new lores from the moment he features you can see that he strives to help people, with the end goal of preventing the death of both Piltovians and Zaunites. He creates Blitzcrank to endlessly support the people of Zaun, assists him in his attempts to save the lives of a family, is evidently upset when their attempt fails. When he invents the device to remove fear from the mind of the divers, he does so to ensure the survival of each diver and their peers, despite the frowned upon methods. He goes to criminal lengths in an attempt to save the lives of hundreds of Zaunites by stealing the hex crystal, which in the biased eyes of Jayce appeared to be experimentation. Even when he becomes obsessed with the Glorius Evolution it's with the goal of human survival in mind (or hard-drive at this point?). From the eyes of almost everyone else he is a villain trying to unethically modify humans, but in actuality he has this Chaotic Good ideal in mind.
I know a lot of people seem to dislike the new take on Viktor, but I personally find it fantastic. I'm a terrible Viktor player and won't touch him for the sake of my teammates, but I can happily say he's solidly found his place in my mind as one of the best characters in this game.
