Riot just should’ve made it a legendary skin. I mean c’mon! for the first time in history an epic skin has special interactions? (Dragon master swain....) Why wouldn’t they make an excepion on MF too then?
Other epic skins have special interactions. Program Camille, for example, has interactions with most project and program skins.

Its basically the same that they did with the Legendary Skins of Blitzcrank, but 4 instead of 2 and you can change the skin in game. And this one has new animations.
