Map skins and why this game was better before.

I have been playing this game for so many years... and I feel that the design of the map skin has never been worse. Do you remember how it used to look like? You could feel the fantasy atmosphere all over the air. Now I feel like I am in some cheap car's race. There are even numbers onto the map now.. wow? Is there any official way of changing the map skin?
