The New Champion might be Targonian

Looking at the in-game PBE teaser, I thought that the new champion seems to be Targonian based on the visuals of the spell(?), so I did some quick mock-ups of a black-and-white version of both it and 's VFX, which is supposed to originate from Mt. Targon.

Both of them are characterised by circular patterns & the planet-ish motifs (also seen in other Targonian champions such as Taric), and the new champ's spell seems to also have sparkly stars and other such lights. imo this is a clear indicator that the new champion is from Targon, but of course, I could be wrong :D

Female champ? I'm in.

Fun fact, out of 33 champions i own (the ones i wanted to play at one point), only 6 are male. And 3 of them i rarely play anymore. I don't know what's the real reason why i gravitate towards female champs more often than male but Riot seems to always know how to hit that perfection on a female champ (in terms of lore, class and kit), from my experience.

Can't agree more. Love the gender balance of champs. They're all fun to play despite being your opposite gender; a male would definitely be more inclined to play a male champ. This game breaks that stereotype and makes awesome champs.

Not sure on being from Mount Targon but I think champion is high likely related to Glade, even if it is not from there.

New champ some say will be a mid lane burst mage. In which case, Diana could go jungle. But that still manages to leave no Targon ADC. Unless this is actually an ADC new champ and AurelionSol is mid and we leave one of the supports out.

No, they’re right. It was Reav3 that confirmed that was just a coincidence, and that the new champion is in fact- not Daphna the Dreamer.

There is a footnote on the new rune, ‘Celestial Body’, and it is a quote from someone named Daphna the Dreamer. There are also new tips that are appearing by the same person. I don’t think that Daphna will be the new champion, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Daphna is linked to them.

Maybe a new item/lore character. Same way Camille was implied to be the one who killed Vi's parents and possibly the "C" from Cait's lore.

Camille has a line in one of her skins to implore it, and the "C" thing was a theory when she was released, before the WW rework.

Considering the fact that the new champion will likely be teased again on Monday, and then released onto the PBE Tuesday, I don’t think that the Rioters would have anything to gain by lying to us so close to the release.

I’ve never known Reav3 to lie, so I wouldn’t assume they are now.

Well I saw a few post related to Daphna deleted on reddit before the hype took off.

I'm not saying they are lying,but talking in like a gray area. Myb her name was changed to Daphne,something a like or Daphna is character from the new champion's lore. It's just real a coincidence to have a knew champion related to sleep and a PBE rune tooltip referring to Daphne the Dreamer and the new Drowsy/Asleep CC.

I was so focused on the new CC, I didn't even really look at the aoe itself. It definitely could be a targonian champ.

Also possible is that the star/moon motif is based on the sleepy nature for clarity's sake, but I would certainly love to see a new Targonian.

The way some have hinted that she would hate Lux leads me to believe she's an oppressed mage in Demacia, but this seems equally or more viable. Excited!

Diana = Moon (Aspect of Night) Leona = Sun (Aspect of Day) Taric = Stars (Aspect of Protection) Pantheon = Battle (Aspect of War) Aurelion Sol = The Universe (Creation)

Perhaps this new champion is the Aspect of Twilight? Twilight is often associated with dreams, REM sleep, nightmares, and imagination (in fact, the strange suggestive state you enter when under the effects of Anathesia or narcotics is called 'The twilight state'). The decal used for the Bubble ability does match both the decal for Shield Battery from Face of the Mountain and the decal from Taric's Starlight's Touch; they're all art-deco facsimiles of celestial bodies.

If this new champion is from the Glade (as another popular theory states), they could be related to the ever-mysterious Mystic element that Mystic Lux and Lulu draw their energy from; both champions have access to what seems to be cognitive abilities, sight into multiple dimensions, and very powerful dream/imagination based magic. Not to mention all three champions share a very strong butterfly motif (another universal symbol for spirits, magic, and mystic power).
