Is it just me or are the stories all becoming much darker?

It isn't enough for Zac to be a superhero, he has to be a dark and tortured soul on the inside. After Ivern, and kinda before, all the new lore and remade stories all seem really really dark. Ornn has a little bit where Braum's happiness slips through but then you learn they remade Volibears lore so now he's a filthy warmonger that murders innocent people and doesn't actually have an Ursine "tribe" just humans turned bears. Ivern was less then a year ago but it feels like this tone shift has been going on longer.

Galio was a nice guy. Sure, he's a little down but he told Lux that she's fine the way she is, he genuinely wants to help people, and he's just a nice guy. Plus, Runeterra is a world recovering from things like the Rune Wars while dealing with Void invasions, Bilgewater anarchists, a wolf man and a cyborg in Zaun, and more. Things are bleak at the moment.

I mean I didn't appreciate them removing her humanity that ascended her originally, and then giving it all back when she got picked by Targon.

I see them adding details to the existing lore more than changing most. In a world where all this is happening the details are going to be pretty dark or just straight up unbelievable. Just think of all the dangers and what they pose to the people and its not a stretch that theyve all been through some hardship.

To be honest all Volibear lost was justification for his actions.

He was always rather violent and brutal, he just had a "good" reason (because the actual visions he had were vague at best) to get violent and force people to work under him.

We don't know Demigod Volibear's motivation. All we do know is that he likes to fight, has low intelligence but high wisdom.
