Retcon "Perfect Hex Core" to "Hex Core mk-Ultra"
I believe renaming Perfect Hex Core to "Hex Core mk-Ultra" would have been more fitting.
**Reason 1: **
Viktor's Hexcore has four stages:
> Perfect Hex Core > The Hex Core mk-2 > The Hex Core mk-1 > Prototype Hex Core
"mk" abbreviates "mark". Which is the British way of saying "version". The "Hex Core mk-Ultra" retains the mk designation.
**Reason 2: **
Project MKULTRA was a CIA mind-control research-program. No, it's not a conspiracy theory; it was declassified during the 70's. It made sense in the context of the Cold War, when the USG was interested in technologies and techniques related to espionage and investigation. Especially interesting about MKULTRA was that one of the participants was Ted Kaczynski, aka "The UNABOMBER".
To summarize his life. Kaczynski was a talented Harvard math major. The particular experiment he participated in had participants write an essay about a deep personal belief, then verbally abused the participants with criticism. The duress led Kaczynski to believe the net impact of science & technology was detrimental to society. So he dropped out, built a cabin off the grid, and eventually started mailing bombs to professors and airlines in order to halt the advance of technology. About 17 years into his "hobby", he wrote a manifesto and shared it with the media. He wasn't caught by the FBI until his brother started to suspect his odd behavior. During trial, he rejected his lawyer's advice to plead insanity as a matter of principle. He's currently serving life in prison.
I can see several parallels between the two. Viktor's also an isolated, disillusioned, intellectually-gifted revolutionary. I also think it's fitting for Viktor's signature item to be named after a mind-control program -- not only because he's a control mage, but to reflect Viktor's disagreement with Jayce over the ethics of "mental enslavement vs. free will".
The primary difference is that Viktor desires to accelerate technological progress, which juxtaposes Kaczynski's desire to impede technological progress. On one hand, maybe Viktor is just another "golem-gate" away from going postal. On the other hand, maybe the true reason Viktor eliminated his emotional capacity was to protect others from himself.
"In America, you interrupt Technological Singularity. But in Soviet Zaun, singularity interrupt you!"
