Ionia has the largest champion affiliation in league however the small vastaya update trimmed the numbers and the current Ionian champions with outdated lore can be grouped as followed Elders/masters Ninja Individuals

At best six or seven of these champions will be picked and some may just be placeholders till they get a vgu But here’s who I think is most likely to be chosen for the lore update and maybe

Who i would like to see have a role in Irelia lore would be Syndra (no no i swear its not only for shipping shenaningans) because they are supposed to be kind of...indirect nemesis. They don't hold a personnal grudge against each other but Syndra sees Irelia as an expression of Ionia balance that needs to crumble and Irelia would be more than likely to take down Syndra if needed. Plus i do believe Syndra lore is a bit lacking, sure its nice but many details could be added to it, there is some plotholes on the deal (especially what is she doing now alone on her floating castle?) since there is a very very thin link between Syndra & Irelia since the start, i would really like to see them expend on that with Irelia VGU (plus we need more female nemesis, no?)

Could be more than cool if Irelia's new lore really really does portray her as the embodiemement of Ionia fighting spirit, and really show her place as the Capitain of the Guard. It seems like and high and respected position, but her old lore barely show it. Irelia is the living proof of Ionia determination. Really expect her new lore to portray this.

Would like to see also some Soraka into Irelia's lore. She did save her life ! Soraka is barely mentionned at all in Ionia though.

And maybe, something with Karma. Karma always striked to me as the Mightiest figure of Ionia. Almost like their queen/president sort of. She rules over Ionia, or at least over the Elder council. It be nice if she had a small link with Irelia (friends from the Order of Lotus, or just political allies). And to have a new lore of hers that really put emphasis on how much a big figure she is in Ionia (and her fighting for peace too)

In a general way, if it calls for a big lore update of Ionia, i'd like to see more of Shen/Zed/Jhin. I feel like Shen and Zed lore is a bit in contrast with Jhin's. (like in Zed lore he opens the box to beat Shen for once while in Jhin lore he sort of open it to clash against his master he doesn't believe in anymore). I personnally think Jhin lore is one of the best well written lores of Ionia, so i't be nice to have a retcon of Shen/Zed to fit more with Jhin.

And finally, the ones that begs for a lore update are Kennen and Akali. Kennen does have one of the most stupid lores imo. He's from the mighty kinkou, one of the biggest organisations in Ionia that stands above the real world almost. And how did he become a kinkou ? he just happened to run very fast. I think something deeper could be written about him. As for Akali, i'd like to have more hints dropped on her past as a possible Order of the Shadows student. And just more details of her life, it seems that she spend her life training and thats all. While it was almost confirmed at this point she used to be from the Order of Shadows. If they go as far as expand on a aminosity with Kayn (he did sort of steal his "favorite student" place) i'd be in heavens. One can dream, haha. But yes imo the most demanding of a serious lore update are Akali and Kennen, just to at least make their character deeper than a one liner.

We'll probably get those that were most involved in the Noxian invasion so: MasterYi LeeSin Irelia Karma Yasuo (especially if Riven gets updated if Noxus gets an LU with Swain VGU) and maybe Syndra she is more of a one-off Ionian with the war kinda just happening in the background for her.

It's actually possible, we may just have a retcon/ recap of the War, leading straight from Noxus' point of view with the Noxus LU into the point of view of the Ionians with the Ionia LU, similar to how Piltover and Zaun were done back to back this year.

We're more likely to see a Kinkou LU to reveal Kennen Akali and Zed lore, Akali is Tier 2 on the VGU list I believe, so it could happen this way.

I really hope that she'll come with an update,I remember that a rioter mentioned that they'll do less of these in the future,since they require a lot of work.

Anyway here are my thoughts on the ionia champs with outdated lore: Irelia I dunno in which direction they'll take her,though I'd appreciate it if they highlighted her role as a leader and made it clear if she is undead or not(as a lot of people think she is a lich,since her soul is partially inside her swords)

MasterYi He is probably one of the most iconic ionia champs of the game,but Wukongs lore does actually give us some info on him,so they might skip him.However I'd hope to learn more about Wuju and hope we might even get some more backstory on Jhin

Karma Seems like a good candidate for a lore update since she is one of the more central ionia champs.I hope they highlight the way ionia is starting to change and how Karma adapts to that,forging a path that embraces botht he old and new ways of ionia.

LeeSin Well he only needs a bio now and I am quite curios to see how he became blind in the new lore.If his role in the noxus-invasion is still as important as before,then he'll surely get an update.

Akali I doubt that she'll receive a lore update since she is in need of a full VGU as well.And since her character and lore are amongst the most uninteresting and dull of the whole game I'd say it is better to leave her blank until she gets said VGU.

Kennen Is almost in the same boat as Akali,though he doesn't have it as bad as her,as he offers some unique lore-ideas based on his electricity powers and the fact that he is a yordle(since yordles live for so long he might be even older than Shens father).However so far they didn't update any yordle lores in faction-updates,so they might skip him for now.

Zed Seems like a good candidate for an update especially since Shen and Kayn got already lore updates and he is seemingly at odds with Rakan&Xayah as well.It is finally time that we get to know the current role of the order of the shadows in ionia.

Yasuo He might get skipped since his lore is likely still canon(just outdated) and he even has another lore piece with Taliyah.Though I would like to know a few more details about the murder of the elder.

Syndra Currently she feels a bit disconnected from the rest of ionia,so a lore update could help to fix that(though it might also be a reason to skip her).I hope she doesn't turn into Ionia-xerath though and hope they differentiate their personalities a bit.

Varus Really hope that he'll get an update since Rhaast does imply that he is related to the darkins.I'm really curios into which direction they'll go with him.Will he be a revenge driven murder machine who'll kill any noxian regardless if they are soldiers or will he only go for the ones who actually attacked his village/did horrible things?will we get more info about his connection to the darkin?There are quite a lot of possibilities here.

Soraka (you kinda forgot about her).She will very likely get a lore update,since it was already said that Sorakas lore will be updated "sooner than later" and her current lore simply doesn't make a lot of sense.Hopefully we'll get a bit of info about the cosmos and what it really means to be a celestial being.
