Ahri's Lore vs. In-Game Continuity

I personally have always been a fan of Ahri (saw someone playing her and that's what made me want to try LoL in the first place). I've mained her for most of the time I've played LoL. I love her playstyle and her lore/backstory. However, it seems to me like her in-game lines don't really fit her lore. Sure, I understand that she went all temptress-mode to seduce men into getting close so she could steal their life force to become more human, but doesn't her lore clearly say that she began to regret that life style and the lives she took? Also, her quote at the end of her lore depicts her now as a merciful, redeemed soul. I love stories like this. However, her in-game character is purely seductive temptress still ("Don't you trust me?" talking in a seductive tone of voice always). There is not even a hint of remorse or change in thought. She even says, "It's too late for mercy." I feel this blatantly contradicts the character her lore has established. Sure, some personality from her "temptress period" would still come through, but I don't think it would completely dominate who she is anymore. Just thought I'd bring this up. Does anyone else agree?

Ahri has a really oddly out of character VO. But I think it might be a little hard to give her quotes that make sense if she acted the way she did at the end of her Lore.

"Oh god, I'm sorry." "Look, I'm going to drain your soul, but trust me, you'll come back." "OH GEEZ LOOK OUT I'M TOSSING A GLOWING BALL AT YOU"

Naturally I'm exaggerating, but it would be a trickier personality to do. Maybe she's keeping her regretful side to herself, trying to keep up her "seductress" persona in public?

EDIT: It's also worth mentioning that nobody dies on the Fields Of Justice because of the Nexus magic, so she's not actually killing anyone.

Her schtick is being a temptress, so the lines make sense. Keep in mind she joined the league (back when the league existed) so that she could kill people and eat souls in a place where people A: respawned and B: were aware of the risk to themselves and capable of defending themselves. She still needs dem souls, so she went to a place where casual murder is just a thing that happens. She much happier now... why wouldn't she act it?

The main reason I bring this all up is because in most fan depictions like pictures or comics she's typically portrayed as the sex object or nothing but seductiveness. I feel the reason for it is that people base it on her VO, the thing players often hear more regularly or know more about than the lore. But I've read the lore for sure and it just doesn't ever feel quite right. A common thing I say to my group of friends when seeing depictions like that (which, to be fair, are completely accurate to her VO in my opinion) is, "But she's not supposed to be like that anymore..." Personally, I like how they portrayed her in the New Dawn cinematic. She had looks of concern and sadness for fallen teammates and got serious and focused to take out enemies and protect her allies. With her current VO I feel like she sounds more like, "Eh, whatever, you're all just and end to a mean, come over here so I can weasel your soul out temptress giggle."

Meh, I guess it kinda boils down to 'would a person who talks like Ahri does in-game ever say something like, "Mercy is a human luxury, and responsibility."?' for me. It just makes me a little sad to hear the redeemed foxie who's turned from her past wrongs not really sound like it.

i think that it is possible that ahris VO was done before her lore was finished

She was done during a time where they gave us a reason why the champion joined the league,maybe they came up with her being regretful too late so that she had a reason to join(or they did it to set her apart from other seductresses in the game,since ahri is the only one who is more or less good,evelynn is evil and mf seems to be rather neutral)

There was an interesting thread about this some days ago and the conclusion was that the VO is a little outdated yep, but I guess it isn't going to be fixed anytime soon because of other priorities :(

Much as I agree with you, Riot has retconned everything lore related.

Maybe shes next much as I love her.

We had this thread not too long ago.

Either there was a loss of communication between the lore and champion teams, or they simply didn't care. Either way, we know it's going to be retconned. More specifically, they are likely going to re-write her out of game lore to reflect her in game character, based on discussions with the Parrot on the old forums.

This again? You're looking for contradictions and inconsistencies where there are none. You're cherry picking parts of her lore and intentionally ignoring the lines that explain her in-game behavior.

Minions are soulless constructs. Champions are ephemeral avatars of their real selves, created by summoning magic and rebuilt on "death." Hunting jungle creatures for a purpose is no different than hunting ducks for sport. None of these conflict with any sense of morality, she's free to express her full self without restraint.

I think it's about splitting herself.

She doesn't mind that image, but she does want to be not that.

I always thought of it being as a reminder; 'this is what I need to not do'.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't her lore to in-game progression like this?: Desired to be human, lucked out at a battlefield and became part human and magical, used her beauty to be a temptress, seduced men to make them vulnerable and drain their life force to become more human (I don't for one second deny that she used to be a viscous, murderous temptress), had a time of deep regret for what she'd done, then got an offer to join the league and said, "Meh, I was all regretful and sad but now I'm gonna act and talk exactly like I did before." Sure nothing on the rift is actual "death," but given her life story I would at least expect a slight change in personality or tone given her past actions led to something she regretted sincerely.

As someone who plays Ahri as my secondary mid choice (I main Akali), I always found that surprising too. I chalked it up to bravado. "Should I make your pulse rise, or stop?" Also... her lore states the league is her way out of the behavior she regrets; maybe she gives herself over to the darker parts of her nature when taking the fields of battle.
