Riot Really Missed Out on HUGE Potential!! (With Hextech Crafting & Hextech Skins)

The potential for Hextech Crafting, is literally insane... I've been thinking about hextech crafting and gemstone skins for ahwile now and I feel like Riot REALLY messed up. With the new release of Dreadnova Darius I really noticed how much Riot has got it wrong. So the original Gemstone skin was "Hextech Annie" right? It made perfect sense, you get a Hextech Annie from the Hextech crafting! Then Riot released Soulstealer Vayne and i was disappointed in them. The reason I was so upset is because they had already made a Soulstealer Vladimir which is a $10 skin (1350 RP), but Soulstealer Vayne could literally cost you $500 in RP to buy all the chests and keys to get all the gemstones you need. Now there is no way that I'm the only one who thinks this is not right. There are a bunch of other themes of skins that are all the same price, there are also some that arnt (which I personally think is quite sloppy of them). Although I do think it is acceptable for some skins in a theme of skins to be more expensive than others just because they might be released at different times and therefore are different in quality. An exeption to that though is that you shouldnt have some skins in a theme be 520 RP but then one cost 10 gemstones... like cmon there are literally 4 different prices for hextech skins. Very recently League got another gemstone skin which is Dreadnova Darius, although we already had a Dreadnova GP skin which doesnt require gemstones... So basically in short what I'm trying to get at is that Hextexh crafting gemstones should only be used to buy Hextech Skins, also they should get rid of all the current hextech skins, besides Hextech Annie obviously, and they should start making really epic Hextech skins for all the champs and maybe make a special Hextech store to use gemstones in. They could even sell more than just the gemstone skins, maybe you could trade gemstones in for RP? or something else cool. They should also go in and adjust all the skin prices of themes so that they are all the same. They also should turn Soulstealer Vayne and Dreadnova Darius to just normal RP skins, and give anyone who had to earn these skins with gemstones 50 chests and keys or less, just some kind of reimbursement for having to spend gemstones. I really feel like Riot missed out on a big opportunity with the Hextexh crafting and hextexh skins. Now you might be asking, "Well what about Warwick and other champs that cant be Hextech because of Lore, well they could make different ultimate tech themes for each region and race, or they could just make is so all champs can have Hextech skins regarless of lore, almost like they got their hands on the Hextexh technology and used it to better themselves, or there is also the Lore route that some man or woman that knows how to use the power of Hextech is selling Hextech upgrades for a high price or some kind. The Lore behind it could go a bunch of ways but I really wish Riot would fix this hiccup and take full advantage of the opportunity they have.

1. I hate to be a bugger about Literature and GUM, but holy hell, please break up your paragraph. It's extremely difficult to read through that monolithic wall of un-separated text.

2. Making Hextech skins exclusive to Hextech Crafting isn't a great idea, because the skins have been around for a while, already have prices, and also would have to be given visual updates to fit with the current par for Hextech Crafting-exclusive skins.

3. Short version: You can't compare two goods of the same quality by price, especially when one has a fixed price and the other is variable, with one possibility being "free".

Long version: While the current Skins in a line already have known, set prices (Hextech being roughly 520~ per, Soulstealer and Dreadnova 1350), you can't relate the price of those skins to the price of Gemstones.

The main reason for this being that Gemstones are very, very rare to find in Hextech Chests, and there's a number of factors to work through when estimating how much it costs. That could range anywhere from 0$ to 500$, since you can get Hextech Chests and Keys from simply playing the game.

Not only that, but the only reason to bring up price when discussing skins is to talk about their quality tier*; 260 = recolor, 520 = basic skin, 750 = unique skin, 975 = Rare skin, 1350 = Epic skin, 1820 = Legendary skin, and 3250 = Ultimate skin.

(*Note; this isn't entirely true for every skin in a given tier. As an example, Enchanted Galio and Hextech Galio, both 520RP, are actually 975RP quality.)

So, if you want to use price in relation to skins obtained from Hextech Crafting, the Hextech Crafting Exclusives (Soulstealer Vayne, Hextech Annie, Dreadnova Darius) are 1350RP.

4. Hextech Crafting doesn't have any story relation, and the Hextech Crafting skins don't tell stories on their own, either. They're part of stories, which can be explored, but there's no need to write a whole ton of lore just to explain Hextech Crafting stuff.

I probably missed over a few points that are worth talking about, but for that - refer to point 1. It is hard as hell to actually retain information when the post is dense with it.

So if someone doesn't like the Hextech theme they have no use for their Gemstones then... I'm actually glad it's not limited to that theme. I liked the old hextech style, it was sleek. The new one...not so much.

There is nothing in this world that states that themes/teams/groups and such in games should all be the same price/rarity point. Hundreds of games splinter parts of themes or groups over various rarity spreads, to the point where it's the norm, not the exception.
