I never played Dawngate and have never really looked to far into the game. It may be harsh to say but perhaps poring all those resources into story is why they didn't profit enough to get EA to keep them around? I'm not trying to defend EA here or anything, but three comics a week and fully voice acted bios is a large investment for a game that is still in development in a market that already has considerable competition.
I believe Riot's narrative will, at some point (in the future), release a steadier stream of lore related content. It has been stated multiple times that they want to get the skeleton of the world glued down before fleshing it out. I would venture to guess that they are doing this for fear that if they rush this process they will end up with as many holes and flaws in the new lore as the old.
Dawngate sounds to have had a vast lore and a wonderful story (from the several several bios I have now listened to), but rushing into and attempting to make a story such as the one dawn gate had won't end cleanly and will likely come across as it would be, forced.
