What happened to the splash art updates?

A while back riot mentioned that they'll be releasing updated splash arts on every patch, they stuck to that for about 3 consecutive patches and then started delaying hard like every 4 patches they'd update one splash. What happened? Nidalee got a full splash update, which was amazing. I ended up buying all her skins because of that. Splash arts define the beauty of the skins, people buy skins for the splasharts first and not the actual in game model. I'm still waiting on my and splash updates, because they have a lot of skins and almost all of them are old and outdated in terms of art, they look absolutely terrible and out of place. So if there are any rioters out there that'd give me a quick update of what has become of the splash art updating I'd really appreciate it.
