So, who's looking forwards to next year's Mount Targon event?
Because seriously, it's going to happen. We all know it. Do I have to point out the parallels between
,
, and
? We had Freljord in 2013, Shurima in 2014, and oh look, there's another lore-related support item with an appropriately iconic color scheme. Plus, they clearly haven't been ignoring the region, given IronStylus' thoughts in this thread last year. Riot's been talking about their "big lore plans" for years, and I think these three big worldbuilding pushes were all planned at roughly the same time. Hopefully we'll find out what the hell the Face of the Mountain is supposed to be in 2015 (some sort of gauntlet with a gyroscope on top?) in the Targon Patch™.
Honestly, after Freljord's successful retcons (aside from Trundle's character 180) and Shurima's disappointing lore wipe (which Rioter Jeridan says they've learned from), I'm looking forward to seeing what they learned. We'll probably get something roughly similar: a new champion, a lot of new Targonian iconography, some new summoner icons, really cool Youtube videos that get everyone hyped while telling us absolutely nothing, maybe a new featured game mode (King of the Mount Targon?), and some character VUs (Pantheon?) and TUs (Leona pls) with the traditionally appropriate amount of retcon rage surrounding them.
Okay, so here's where I'd like to do some theorycrafting. I'm sure a lot of champions will get moved to Mount Targon, and I have a bit of an idea of how this will go. I have no actual proof for any of this next part, so feel free to critique and share your impressions!
Extremely Likely
: He's a big muscley warrior dude who's a former gladiator, AND he's a reference to Greco-Roman mythology. He's perfect.
: She's never looked like she's from Zaun at all, and from what I've seen, people have very little attachment to Janna as a character. She's ripe for a rewrite and VU, especially given Riot's occasional comment about Targon having "avatars of the elements and heavens" (check the link above). Janna would be perfect for this, since she's practically a blank slate in terms of personality.
I Think So
: He's a big rock monster. Targon is a big mountain. Mountains are made of rock. MY LOGIC IS IRREFUTABLE. Also, maybe he's the Earth equivalent to Janna's Air.
It Could Happen
: Well, he needs somewhere to go. He's a warrior man with a mysterious past. I could see him hanging out with Pantheon and Alistar.
: Mostly just because he doesn't have any lore ties currently. Plus, that beard is like unto an Olympian God.
Probably Not
: He's a knight from an ancient order with a similarly blank slate as far as lore goes. He'd go great living deep inside a mountain, mining rare gemstones and drawing his ancient magic from within the earth. The only reason he isn't higher on the list is because the website lists him as being from Demacia for some reason.
Still More Likely Than Magma Chamber
: Uh...well, she needs SOMEWHERE to go.
: Ditto.
Quite honestly, I'm looking forward to all this, especially because they don't seem to have any obvious plans for afterwards. Hopefully that's when we'll actually start seeing all these "new stories" we keep getting promised. And maybe this time Riot won't remove old lore without actually having anything to replace it with. Riot, I love you guys, but come on. Don't play with our hearts like this.
into there and then say he's responsible at the massacre, moreso because his mindset meshes so well with the mindset of Rakkor tribe. This will not take away the fact he already did similar thing to
's tribe, this'll be just another day in work for him.
for Mount Targon, considering her model is similar to a Satyr and she was almost a god.
is love,

are life.
