Fizz's people were all missing when he returned... Nautilus was part of a crew sent to investigate a mysterious darkness in the ocean. Nami's people fear some kind of darkness if the moon thing isn't found.
What is this creeping darkness ruining all things pure in the ocean? Will we ever find out? Could it be tied to Illaoi? A red response would be a godsend, even if it's a "Coming soon tm"
The lore team has been moving... kinda slowly. The bilgewater event and the follow-up to it were really great, and I think the community feedback on that was good enough that they'll keep it up with those kind of stories.
Downside to that is it'll take awhile to get through the whole champ roster. Based on what I have heard about what the narrative team does all day, though, I can almost guarantee that they have started thinking about these issues. We won't hear much until they are ready to commit to a story, though, and that could be months/years away.
EDIT: That post kinda sounds like a dig at them. I don't intend it to be. The fact is, writing good stories with strong characters is time consuming. Please recall how long Georgie is taking with Game of Thrones. The only reason we don't normally think about the time it takes is because we get a larger finished product on the front end.
Riot is taking their time to make sure they do it right now. That's been their focus. So we need some patience, and it'll pay off!
Wouldn't hold my breath, apparently there's a long list as to what's coming. Mt. Targon (?) is supposedly next, and all the champions associated with it.
I believed WAAARGHbobo mentioned that there was some stuff in the works for Nami, Nautilus and Fizz in regards to how they operate in the new canon, but I'm not sure. Will have to find that and examine it again.
I imagine there'll be some Nagakabouros/Illaoi/Serpent Isles tie ins for those three though. Especially considering Illaoi considers Nautilus a rival. I could see all three of them being associated with various deities within the pantheon of gods that would theoretically exist under Nagakabouros.
It wouldn't really surprise me if they merged the species of nami and fizz somehow. I mean fizzs lore never got any expansion and you wouldn't know that his people are missing based on his ingame-appearance and I think having one well established underwater faction is better than having 2 that barely get any attention.

I love what the lore team is doing honestly... I'm super happy about it. I wish they would change Skarners VO's to match his new lore though. it's a bit underwhelming in that one regard. I'm glad to hear some of the feedback from you guys though, a lot of information I wasn't aware of. :D Thank you.
