To this day I still don't get why we couldn't have Solar Eclipse Leona and Lunar Eclipse Diana

Did everyone at Riot not think that through? Why have 2 legendary skins that are literally the exact same thing save for the color change when you could have two separate legendary skins for the only two champions that fit the theme? I'm just so confused, I play Diana most often when I go mid and main Leona support, I'm just so upset that i couldn't have eclipse skins for both, such a waste of resources for two legendary skins for the same champion smh. Honestly mind boggling that Riot couldn't just do this they have to have a reason for this someone explain it to me please ;-;

Because two very similar skins with some recolors require a lot less work than two completely separate skins. I know it sucks, but let's just hope Diana will receive Solar/Lunar Eclipse skins too at some point in the future.

Good question! We actually didn't start with two Leona skins, we started with one: Eclipse Leona. That split into two as one of the artists concepted out both Solar and Lunar Eclipse forms, and as a team, we went: "¿Porque No Los Dos?" The concerns about not including Diana esp when we were doing a Lunar form definitely came up during development. However, when you got a scheduled amount of time to make a skin and then it splits into two, resource constraints become very real.

Interpret that comment however you want.

Mainly for the reason that Diana had just gotten a skin five months ago at the time; there would have been a very vocal group complaining about too many Diana skins and we all know it.

Why not both? Why can't we have Solar Eclipse Diana and Lunar Eclipse Diana like Leonas'? I don't get these complaints. Just wait for the next Coven event, please? I want that Diana legendary too but seeing how people want a Coven universe Diana legendary this much pretty much means they'll make it. Just... Wait...

because this was originally gonna be just one skin, eclipse leo. aside from that diana had just gotten a skin (1350 as usual). meanwhile leo's last skin before these was actually even worse than pool party leo, about 2 years prior.

In short: leo deserved it, diana mains acted like spoiled brats.

honestly after seeing diana mains' reaction, i hope they never get one.

Because it's easier for them to make 1 skin + a chroma they can sell at the same price

than it is to make 2 separate skins.

To be honest I think if they gave Diana matching Lunar and Solar Eclipse skins, it would be a good thematic, since both types of eclipses have to do with both celestial bodies.

They made both concepts for Leona and asked which people preferred; the answer was so close, and since both designs were so similar that making both was worth the effort. The effects are just recolours, and the model difference is only a few spikes on the halo and the sword blade.
