My Thoughts on The Lore Rework, and Why I Feel People Are Being Too Harsh

I don't have too much time to write this so I'm going to make this pretty short and simple. Personally, I think people are being WAY too hard on the lore team, for whatever reason. I understand that it's strange, but it's also a pretty simple concept. The things that happen on Summoner's Rift are completely non-canon and all of the champions have their own stories completely separated from what occurs there, like a fighting game.

With that said, I understand why people are mad about the lore. Right now, frankly, it's a mess, yes, with certain champions technically having no lore at all, since SR isn't canon. HOWEVER... I think it's not fair to say the lore sucks completely, reason being, the lore we DO have, in my opinion, is actually pretty freakin' amazing. Shurima's super cool, new Sion tying in LeBlanc, Vlad, and a few others is really interesting, and the individual champions since (Bard, Ekko, etc.) are all pretty awesome too.

I think that eventually, Riot will have all their shit together and have all of the champion lores made/reworked and it'll all be very very cool. So basically... Lighten up people! The lore we have is good, and we'll have more coming around at some point or another. The lore doesn't suck necessarily, it's just very (very very) unfinished. Don't hate it, contribute and keep the discussion going so Riot knows there are people who actually do care about lore. Encourage them to keep going! That's all! c:

To be fair, Riot's done a pretty good job with the Bilgewater Lore.

In my opinion, It's been their first actually good lore event in quite awhile...the best one since the Kalamanda event...which sadly is no longer cannon.

Here's the problem with the Retcon: Riot retconned Runeterra and didn't replace the stuff they took out with enough to fill it.

They left Runeterra in a clusterfuck.

The rate they are producing lore since the retcon is not coming close to solving the lore clusterfuck that the retcon caused.

Suprisingly, Riot didn't even use the retcon to re-work their lore in a crazy way that wouldn't have worked before.

None of the post retcon lore wouldn't have worked within the old lore with some minor changes.

As far as I can tell, the Retcon only brought negative change to Runeterra. We have yet to see any positive Lore changes that couldn't have happened pre-retcon with minor changes to flavour,

So far, the Retcon has only made lore worse. Riot has yet to demonstrate how the retcon was necessary, and more importantly, how it makes lore better.

As far as I can tell, it's only made things worse.

They removed one of my favorite characters and replaced him with a new character. They lost my trust and haven't regained it. All Riot has been doing is bring out decent-to-great lore, which is pointless if I don't really care too much about the characters in that lore.
