Ahri's Model made by Riot has 2 versions

The second model is just so much better but why did Riot decided to remake her model? Isn't the second one much better? But the thing is, her splash art has the old ugly model wich sucks cause her outfit on the second version is so much more polished.

Remember, cinematic models have a lot of more polygons and textures. This can be difficult to implement into the game because it needs to be detailed, while still fitting the rest of the games and its polygon counts, as well as avoiding lag/having to render so much for one model. It's resource management, in a cinematic you can go crazy as long as you can render it, in a game you have to make it playable and not too big to implement into a file.

As for why they remade it, like above, more detailed models are important for high budget animations and cinematics. They can and will be more detailed because they can do it without sacrificing playability. They don't have the same flexibility for the game, so they remade almost every model in the cinematic for it specifically.

PS: I love the new Ahri splash way more than the old one but I'm sure I'm a minority there. uwu

let me tell u something: remember when in season 4 (or 5?) riot "made over 50 new splash arts"? you know what they did? they went to china and copy pasted their splash arts! and kinda the same thing happened to ahri.

Its one of the better older models.
