Ahri's Model made by Riot has 2 versions

The second model is just so much better but why did Riot decided to remake her model? Isn't the second one much better? But the thing is, her splash art has the old ugly model wich sucks cause her outfit on the second version is so much more polished.

Remember, cinematic models have a lot of more polygons and textures. This can be difficult to implement into the game because it needs to be detailed, while still fitting the rest of the games and its polygon counts, as well as avoiding lag/having to render so much for one model. It's resource management, in a cinematic you can go crazy as long as you can render it, in a game you have to make it playable and not too big to implement into a file.

As for why they remade it, like above, more detailed models are important for high budget animations and cinematics. They can and will be more detailed because they can do it without sacrificing playability. They don't have the same flexibility for the game, so they remade almost every model in the cinematic for it specifically.

PS: I love the new Ahri splash way more than the old one but I'm sure I'm a minority there. uwu

Yeah, people often forget what game we're playing. This isn't Smite where you're playing close enough to the characters to see all the details of their ass. Intricate details on the models become negligible in game because of things like the perspective, how far out we are from the champs & all the action in game.

But in this case, Ahri was an exception, you see, they added clothes and I know that back in 2011 they were still releasing tons of champions at once and they didn't had much time to polish them but they added and removed so many thing's onto her model that it was rather rework than polished actually. Take a look at the waist, it has that extra thing around it and it fits so much better. Yes they polished this new model on the cinematic but they also added and touched a lot of things, while in other champions from the cinematic I can only see more detail onto their already existing model rather then actually remaking the model to what Riot would make if they released Ahri when the cinematic came out. That's why I found it so strange they moved so much from a model to another yet they kept her splash art with that older model. Even some fan arts already use the cinematic model instead of the older one.

let me tell u something: remember when in season 4 (or 5?) riot "made over 50 new splash arts"? you know what they did? they went to china and copy pasted their splash arts! and kinda the same thing happened to ahri.

ye I do remember it well, I hate those, they're better than some we had but they look like fan arts and do not really fit into the League's art. All splash arts look like they're made by the same person, that is so cool, but all those are complete.....they're mostly bad, not worst than the others but bad.
But if I remember Ahri splash art was remade, not taken from China server...

Yeah the Ahri splash was remade. I remember a lot of backlash because the old one was so good, just needed a touch up really.

I still don't really get what is going on in her current splash. It looks like someone found her by looking through a bush and she was like play-napping in the middle of the bush.

Ye.....it has a really weird pose, really bad honestly, it's like Riven's look's too unrealistic and not really physically right. Her old one was also really bad to be honest, but this new one has quality just not in the pose, it was cool if they remade one with the newer model.

They didn't claim the Chinese splash arts were 'new'. They SPECIFICALLY said that the Asian splash arts were to be temporary replacements until new splashes were made. EX. Miss Fortune

"Temporary" meaning for the next 4 or 5 years or more LOL.

Her newer one is kinda OK but the old one was really not up to Riot's standard's. Her older one has worst colors, the champion is not the focus point but the orb and that's not what you want. The background was also a blur of a forest. The newer also has some problems like her pose which is really unrealistic. They are both ok but the new one has some of the older problems fixed and it has that Riot's style to it.
