Shaco's new short bio is... bleh

I feel like this new short bio for Shaco is ... half baked.

It honestly feels like someone changed it just because they could. Granted, his previous lore was by no means deep or satisfying, especially with the limitations that the Institute of War and the summoners concept presented, but they made him out to be this malevolent figure out for your blood, with a hint of sick, twisted humor ... not a sympathetic figure that got corrupted by forces unknown.

It doesn't match up at all with his extended biography, nor the character's quotes, in my opinion. It really feels like a knee-jerk change made for no good reason other than they didn't like what was already established. Perhaps if the extended biography got changed as well so it could be compared, I would not think so harshly of the change, but it really feels rushed and unnecessary.

I think what gets my goat the most is the change to what he is: a puppet? Really? He does not look like a puppet at all. Isn't that what Workshop Shaco is for? To nail that marionette look?

I want to be terrified of the mysterious joker from who knows where, not the less vulgar (but no less murderous), taller version of Chucky.

His short bio is only a placeholder for now. The same goes for the extended bio. And they don't really contradict each other,as Shacos extended lore only tells us that he is a sadistic enigma within runeterra and that he is an assassin for hire who eludes the authorities.

Meanwhile his short bio only tells us that he is a magical puppet from a kingdom that doesn't exist anymore that has become a sadistic killer.

So the logical conclusion is that,Shaco is indeed a magical puppet that acts as an assassin(and sometimes kills for fun),while no one in runeterra actually knows this. Similarly his VO doesn't really tell us anything about his backstory,so it neither contradicts his short bio nor does it support it.

Eitherway Shaco is high on the list for a full VGU and who knows what changes they'll make when they update him.

I agree that it feels like a precursor to his inevitable rework (which I am looking forward to). At the same time, I feel it's unnecessary to put out a change if they're not putting more out there to support the change, at least not yet.

Probably the only thing I'm actually miffed about is the attempt to make him a sympathetic character (he lost his beloved prince, as well as got corrupted, so he turns into a murder-clown). I really dislike that direction, but that's just my opinion. Hopefully I'll be more enthusiastic about whatever direction they choose to take him later on.

I think they put it out to see our reactions beforehand and to give us already a small preview of what their current plan for Shaco is.

Him having a tragic background isn't really that bad for me,I mean the Joker himself has one in most incarnations(even if its not always clear how true said backgrounds are) and said background does actually give him a goal that he can work for(murdering the descendants of the people that destroyed his old kingdom).

Though I myself am not really a big fan of the "dark magic"-part,that just feels thrown in for pretty much no reason...
