Death Possible?

In this new lore, is it possible for the champions we now and love to die? Whom do you think will die as the lore plays out? Why?

MY OPINIONS

Diana Let me be the first in a long line of people to say, I love Diana. Her thematic and her story cut so deep, and really makes her stand out among the roster. To be honest, I'm really anxious to see where Diana's story leads her. As much as it pains me to say, I feel like it can only end with her death. I don't want her to seek redemption, I don't want her to fight along side Leona, I don't want her to step off the path that she's on. I think that's the beauty of Diana is that her story has this fatal end to it. I want her death to be as a tragic as the life she lived.

Khazix The ballet of the grasshopper and the lion. Rengar and Khazix's whole story is defined by their counterparts. I makes little sense to have this conflict continuously play out with no conclusion. There really isn't a lot of substance to either one of these characters without them first dealing with each other, even then Khazix kind of just remains a void bug. That's why I think the ultimate conclusion will end with Rengar finally getting the better of Khazix...besting the void....being a hero blah blah blah.

Sejuani Unlike Diana, I feel like the stone-heart barbarian warlord would be able to set aside differences to work with Ashe to bring Lissandra down. I have always seen Sejuani as a different side of heroism seen in the Freljord. She needs to be tough to lead her people, she was rised in a place trying to kill you. IF she found out the truth about Lissandra I believe she would stop at nothing to purge the Freljord of Lissandra's evil. Sejuani is not calculating or vindictive she would fight to the death because that what she's met for.

An impressive analysis. I like both Leona and Diana, so I'm wondering -- I know Diana wants to make everyone worship the moon or die -- but Leona seems the type to try to alter the way the Solari think in order to include Lunari or at least tolerate them. Are you convinced that Diana would never accept a treaty if Leona found a way to make the Solari accept Moon-worshippers?

I dont think Riot even wants to kill off characters that are in the story (like J III), let alone champions in league

Personally, I don't think any champion would die unless there was an upcoming skin that essentially revives them.

For example, Jarvan IV dies as part of the new canon and in the very next installment of canon we get a lore based skin that revives him as some Hextech J4 or Soul Reaver J4.

As far as I can tell so far, champions are too important to simply be killed off when all this lore is being revamped. Maybe in a year or so once the lore has had more time to take shape. Even then, I highly doubt it.

Well, we already know Sion died; I honestly don't see Riot killing off champions unless that's already part of their established lore (or could work in their lore; last I checked Yorick isn't undead, but he very well could be retconned to be). Sivir could have easily been killed off during the Shurima lore (in which case, Azir's story could be about seeking revenge for his fallen descendent, instead of trying to get Sivir to inherit Shurima or something), and the Sivir in game just be some sort of memory of the Sivir before she died.

Following the Shurima lore further, I think it can be reasonably inferred that either Cassiopeia or Sivir will die by the other's hand at some point, but thus far, the story has been left as a cliff-hanger before that event takes place. Even if we start speculating about expanded lore, etc. for example a story that follows Sivir on her quest to get revenge on final boss Cassiopeia, they could always have Cassiopeia pull a Bowser and not die, just limp away in a severely weakened state and escape for the time being.

Honestly I think that's sort of the state of LoL lore, where champions are sort of taken to the point where they become characters in the game, and the external conflicts are sort of held in suspended animation. That's the original intent of the League of Legends (they could literally stop time), but in the new lore it's a little less explicit. As much as I want a Shurima part 2 to finish the story, I'm not sure if that's what Riot Lore is really planning; perhaps supplemental stories but nothing conclusive. I don't think Demacia or Noxus is going to win one day, any more than I see the Alliance or the Horde from Warcraft winning; sure there may be expansions and change ups, but I don't know if any champions will die? I mean, I guess characters from Warcraft/Starcraft die/change in significant ways, but I don't think the games are really too similar; I don't think there will ever be a "League of Legends 2", Riot will probably just continuously update this game to whatever "LoL2" would be, just like how there isn't a World of Warcraft 2. Even if major characters in WoW die (I actually don't play the game so I don't know for sure), it isn't like there's a reduction in playable characters, which is an important difference, I think. Unless Riot starts doing some multiverse shenanigans with the Void or something, I don't know if characters will actually die...

I could be completely wrong though.
