Could the new colorful mage be...

It was announced a little more than a week ago that a new colorful mage will be introduced to LoL in the future (link: https://comicbook.com/gaming/2018/08/06/league-of-legends-teases-two-new-champions/). It appears that this mage has a flora theme, indicated by the symbol of flowers, a theme that is similar to Zyra .

However, after recently reading a short story that is centered around Ahri (link: https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/story/ahri-garden-forgetting/), she encounters an elderly woman whom she refers to as Ighilya. In the story, this woman is described as being colorful and seems to be in control of a variety of plant life. Could this Witch Gardener be the new mage? I think that it would be extremely interesting to see; this witch seems like a powerful mage and someone that you definitely don't want to mess with.

I think it would be very different from Zyra

An elderly colorful female mage seems like a really nice idea to me, but I'm tired to see so much champions coming from Ionia, whether it is new champions or VGUs, just give her another location maybe...

Lol, I honestly hope it’s a male champ tbh.

Good catch on Ahri's story. It's a strong candidate for sure

Personally I'm hoping it's a yordle or one of the fae from the glade. If the glade still exists in the new lore.

I was thinking this at first actually.

It would be really cool because the Gardner was a really interesting character for me, to the point where I made a champion concept with some art and a website.

Either way I hope its something different. We don't have that many female yordles or old ladies. A guy would be cool too see as well. Pretty excited either way.

Worst case scenario, its another Zyra update

That's exactly what i've been thinking since the release of the last Champion Roadmap ! When you put in relation the characteristics of Ahri's story and the teaser, it instantly looks much clearer to the eyes. There's way too much coincidences to be simply called coincidences rather than obviousness.

Just what we need. More Ionians...

It did occur to me, but personally I’m hoping for someone from a different region.

I don't want another champ from Ionia this year :C

Prior Knowledge fallacy. Your brain is going towards champs you already know because synapses can not as easily form links to tenuous concepts like a new champion that you haven't seen yet.

It will be a new champ. It is more likely to be a new champ than anything we know of.
