Gettin' a little heavy on the lines....

I do appreciate the love you put into each new champ, but i'm wondering how many other people are finding that the abundance of lines each new champ has is.... a bit irritating? Or maybe not so much the abundance as the frequency. It seems the newer the champ is, the sooner i disable voices in the sound menu. Which is a shame, because some champs have really cool voices and lines. It just gets so irritating to hear someone talking to me every couple of seconds, you know? Pretty much only the ancient champs i can bear to leave voice on the whole time. And having voice on is actually pretty important because some champs say things when they are using certain attacks, and theres no separate toggle for enemy voices currently.

I don't mind a champion being talkative if I'm the one playing it, but I get sick of hearing other people's champions. If the mid lane is Azir vs Yasuo then it becomes a shouting contest.

SHURIMA HASAGI SHURIMA TON SHURIMA FACE THE WIND

At least when Garen screams about Demacia to other players, it's once in a while. Some champions, specifically newer/recently reworked ones, just won't shut the hell up. Even when you're not playing them.

The moment I click Karthus in champion select I instantly regret my decision. "AGONY, ECSTASY, DEATH. EVERY PASSING HAS A BEAUTY ALL ITS OWN." I'm like "STAHP, PLIS, DUN DO DIS. STAHP, STAAAHP."

I love the new champ's lines, like when they buy items or interact with other champions and stuff like that. I wish there were even more.

I sometimes like to play a little game where i only type lux quotes in chat. When people start to get ragey a little "stay positive" or "focus on the battle" just gives me a tickle. Or when people sarcastically say "gg" at 15 minutes in-- "I never think about losing." Only once has someone caught on to what I was doing and suggested that i stop. My reply: "i'll consider it."

If you have the time to actually focus on what the champion is even saying and comprehend it, you aren't focusing enough on the game.

Thanks for the feedback gatchi. We're always trying to find the right balance between hearing lines too often and not enough. Could you please give specific examples of newer champions whose voice lines happen too frequently?

I love Azir, but that dude needs to shut the hell up about it.

Sion's lines are awesome. Everytime I play Sion I think "Why didn't I play Sion last time I could have." Just because I think his VO is perfect.

I personally think if there are 2 champions that DESERVE to be chatter boxes its Azir and Karthus

First is the GOD KING ASCENDED

Second is the UNDEAD LICH POPE

When I play Azir or against him I feel very triumphant when I do just about anything. I also feels like it serves Azir's character quite well. IF you just look at Azir as a new summoner, "Lost King of Shurima" isn't the first or second read you'd get from him. You'd probably get Bird Jesus or Pheasant Wizard or Sand Sorcerer. I think is VO is frequent for a reason, it gives him his kinglyness - he's commanding his forces to attack, he's in charge but he's prideful to a fault.

Karthus on the other hand probably has one of the most unique world views of the entire champion roster. His voice over lines range from dark humor, haunting serenity and chilling wickedness. I will say, toggling E can get annoying sometimes - but for everything else I think its just another one of those things that in order to understand what/who this champion is you need VO.

I think no every champion needs to be this talkactive however. Diana is an example of a champion where the brevity and shortness of her lines communicates her anger and her muted outlook. Dunkmaster Darius or Sion is an example of where they probably talk a little too much for their own good.

I think the "talkactivity" of champions should be something that varies depending on the personality.
