I for one avoided the forums because it took infinitely longer than I wanted to get anything productive from any thread with more than a few comments. So I pretty much just read aggregated red posts on other sites. I now have an option to do that right here (yay for red tracker!), and I have participated by commenting in this community for the first time. I really do like it, and I wanted to show Riot some love for giving us something new (and I think better).

I'm sure they'll keep a close eye on it and make sure nothing goes out of control (hivemind and whatnot) and I'm sure they will continue to build on this and make it even better.

I agree, this was a brilliant idea and I love it (with a few minor bumps in that love). It's really nice having some civil discussion with fellow League players without the perpetual trolling.

I just want to agree with OP. The new look is sleek and slick - much easier than browsing 10000000000+ pages to find what you want.

The only way this helps you find 'what you want' is if you are trusting others to TELL YOU 'what you want'. What if what you REALLY wanted isn't the thread everyone else likes?

Because I can revisit pages I've posted in, what I want! Also, as I said before, I'm used to browsing a ton of pages to find something useful. The old system is no different anyway. People post in what they want. That goes to the top of the board. I have to browse through a ton of pages to find what I want. Before, there were no options to tailor what I wanted to see, no there is! Can't you at least concede that that is quite some improvement?

I agree that more options in the old forums would be welcome, but not if those options come at the expense of posts having a chance to be seen by everyone. Things like a 'view only popular posts' button or a 'view only posts by the OP' would be very very welcome in the old forums. I also do REALLY like the red post 'box' at the side. That's fantastic. Another option I'd love to see in the old forums is the option to click on a post and have it load up in a thread format that shows any post that replied to that post.

But taking those options and removing the good aspects of the forum environment... removing quite literally everything I like about forums... is not an improvement to me. IT's a huge downgrade.

Removing the predictable 'shape' of a thread, removing the ability to see the newest reply regardless of where it is easily, removing the chance for new posts to be seen , removing the ability to reply to multiple people at once, removing the ability for conversations to not become so focused that a new opinion has to create an entirely new thread... all of these things are core to the forum experience in my eyes... and dropping them all away for a few minor upgrades that could be implemented into the existing forums without sacrificing anything... that's not an upgrade to me. Not at all.

You describe things you want in the first paragraph, and that sounds exactly like what we have now. You can make separate posts on the same page at the same time. About removing the chance to see new posts: You can change to most recent posts mode, and then Up/Down vote there. YOU can help decide what the community wants to see.

And don't say you could see ALL of the new posts on the old forums, forums got SAGEd so fast that you hardly could ever read all of the new posts, before you had to have a little bit of luck to be on the first page, now all you need is good content. An improvement, in my opinion.

Yes, that was the point. I was listing the aspects of this current setup I liked. But those additions are not worth everything we lose. It's like if you give me a million dollars but tell me in response you have to poke both my eyes out and cut off my arms. Yes, a million bucks is fantastic, but I still wouldn't take it for the cost.

That's what we have here... they're giving us a bunch of shiny additions, but they're taking everything I liked about the old system away... and it's just not worth it to me.

Because you can't reply further after 6 nestings(another huge flaw of the reddit style) I'm going to reply here:

There's the paragraph where I listed numerous things we lose by going to a reddit style. It's not everything, but it's a start.
