Champions, champions...

Hello 'dere, peoplez! :3

I'm fairly new to the exciting and expansive world of League (as this is merely my third day playing), and it appears I have come to encounter a minor dilemma that I feel the more experienced players of the community possess the wisdom required to resolve said issue.

Well, here it is:

The champions. It feels as if the list of them never ceases; you have the nimble ones that specialize in taking out opponents before they even realize what hit them, in addition to the more tanky ones of the group, which are used for more beefy tasks, such as averting minion attack damage so the rest of the group can proceed towards the turrets.

Now comes the inevitable question that I'm sure you have all been expecting: Which one do I choose? I have done a fair bit of research, and I decided that I want to stick with a champion that has a reasonable pool of health, and an even higher damage rating (a tank/fighter). As of thus far, here's the short list that I've scraped together:

Darius Darius.

Zac. Ruled out.

Hecarim. Ruled out.

Jax. Champion purchased/ruled out.

Renekton Renekton.

Newly Selected:

Malphite. Champion purchased/enjoyed.

Khazix Kha'zix.

Rammus. Ruled out.

DrMundo Mundo.

Shyvana Shyvana.

As I stated above, I'm extremely new to this game, and am entirely open to any suggestions players may have regarding my champion selection. If you think you may be capable of assisting me, please, don't hesitate to reply!

Thank you for your time, and I hope to see you on the Fields of Justice soon!

I would get Jax if I were you, he is fairly inexpensive, and you can have your hand someone that deals a bit more damage, rather than being tanky. Next I would try Renekton, as he is kind of the opposite. Deals a lot of damage if you build him right, but is more tanky in nature. Hecarim is incredible fun, and has one of the most awesome skins in the game(arcade Hecarim). He is quite tanky, but when doing damage, he doesn't do it in a way that feels particularly damaging. I found this to be a turn off to me, as I just felt like I wasn't doing damage. Zac is fun. I played him once, and I loved it. He doesn't use mana, and he has a passive that keeps him from dying if your teammates help you out. His ganks are fun and unusual. He can jump out of nowhere and surprise the enemy. I would not recommend Hecarim or Zac though. You have been playing 3 days, and as such, cannot jungle. You would need tier 3 runes, which you get at level 20. Then there is Darius, he is really fun. The more incompetent the enemy is the more fun for you. He is unstoppable when he gets fed, and is overall annoying to deal with. He takes little to no skill to play, and would be an excellent choice. But of all of them, I would get Jax first, because he is cheap, then see from there. You may not even like them. It may be a case of," I liked that one game I played as a tanky fighter, I will like another tanky fighter!" Try out everyone at some point. It will be great to see who you like and who you do not. Good luck and have fun!

I think mundo is a great pick because he has alot of dmg and he has incredible hp regen.

As I scrolled through the list of existing champions, of course, Mundo was one of the first characters to catch my eye; at a glance, he appeared just whom I was searching for.

However, upon further inspection, I discovered that he uses his health bar to fuel his attacks, like a replacement for mana, and didn't want to be constantly burdened with the fear that I would not possess the sufficient amount of health required to survive the damage inflicted upon me by my enemies whilst damaging them myself.

As I stated afore, I am looking for a champion with a fair amount of damage and a high amount of health, so I could successfully ward several advancing opponents simultaneously and evade death even then.

Regardless, I appreciate your suggestion, and will look deeper into the capabilities of Mundo and see if my fears of him can be dismissed.

The only thing that drains your health alot is your W but if you build warmogs you should be fine. Remeber your passive gives you bonus hp regen.

Hmm... I see.

Due to your reasoning, I have decided to give Mundo a further evaluation, as I was previously unaware that the gift of a permanent health-regeneration served as his passive ability.

I sincerely appreciate the assistance and kindness everyone here has directed towards me thus far, and implore any others whom feel they possess knowledge capable of guiding me in my trying endeavor to locate the ideal champion to speak their mind without hesitance.

Again, thank you!

Your welcome and also a champion like mundo is shvyana which doesn't drain hp but has no mana bar.

This suggestion is also being considered; I'll look into Shvyana in the near future. Thank you.

On an unrelated note, I recently purchased Malphite, and I believe it's safe to say that I'm enjoying his play style so far. I can't say with certainty that I am going to use him as my main champion permanently, but I like the fact that he's fairly tanky and deals a good amount of damage, which is merely increased by one of his abilities.

My character list has been updated.

Renekton is by and far my favorite, and is one of the best top laners currently. But a nerf is coming soon, not horrible but if you get him now you can enjoy him pre-nerf. Great mobility and very fun kit. Lots of sustain as well.

Darius will probably be the best after imho. Build him nothing but tank and he will be a great asset early and late game because of his true damage ult. Lack of mobility though. Bit thirsty early but amazing tank.

Yes, Renekton is certainly one of the champions I am considering most thoroughly at the current moment (along Darius, Kha'zix, and Malphite). He appears to possess a high pool of health, and a dealer of substantial amount of damage.

Again, I thank everyone for contributing their knowledge to resolve my dilemma; your assistance is invaluable.
