Hey guys,

Just a few things.

I appreciate that you are trying to make the forums a more responsive and easier to follow place. I've spent a good amount of time on GD and I completely understand the cluster that it can turn into. I know that if a Red posts something on the forums, there is a 100% chance it will be seen and read by most people, but if a Red wants to reply to something a random GD'er posts in that same thread, there is a much smaller chance that the Red will reply to every good question due to the flood of responses that happen.

Good and bad things about the new beta:

Good:

1. The updates. I like seeing immediately if someone responds to my thread or replies to a comment immediately instead of having to refresh the page constantly.
2. The new formatting system for the comments is awesome. I love being able to insert icons, pictures, and other cool things effortlessly, as well as the live preview for the post.
3. The way that Reds have been replying to a lot of posts that weren't on the front page (like in GD). I experienced this in the PBE forums too since they switched over, it seems like we have much better communication with the Red team.

Okay, now for the bad:

1. The new layout ripped directly from Reddit. I feel that this encourages hive up/downvoting and stifles a lot of opposing opinions. Whenever I browse Reddit I tend to look at the first few comments and then move on. This doesn't lead to exploring all opinions or delving deeper into the conversation. That's what happens a lot when you have comment ranking systems like this and people are afraid of not being heard.
2. I think the way you are trying to get people to try the new forums is the wrong approach. I ready all the Ironstylus posts over in GD where he was discussing (arguing, whatever) with the people and his remarks came off as "I'm not going to talk to you here, you have to use the new forums to talk to me". I realize that this isn't what he meant, but as you know, people on the internet hate change and they hate being told what to do, so it launched the crapstorm that we're now in. I have a few suggestions as to how you can bring people over, but that's for another time.

In conclusion, I think if you guys can change the format around a little, smooth out the misunderstanding with the parrot, and fix your mod situation on the other forums that you would be in good shape (or better shape) for this new beta.
