It's a thing here, just not in GD. Basically because that's what GD asked for.

Well the thing is, it's already pretty far from reddit. It has chronological view. It has sorting comments by votes OR date. It has 4 different sorting options, for posts, 3 of which are not like reddit. And even "Hot," the most reddit-esque, isn't really like reddit.

For example, this thread. I made it yesterday, and have been really active in it. Until a couple hours ago, when conversation in it died down and a TON of new posts that were on GD before started being made, it was in the top 10 or so posts in the hot sorting.

If you set things to chronological view and "recent" sorting, new GD (if it had voting) would function exactly like old GD.

The thing is, none of this mattered, because it looked like reddit. As long as posts had those little arrows and a number next to them, GD wasn't going to accept it. So they did the logical thing: got rid of the arrows and the number. And it worked.

As an aside, the one downvoting you is a lurker, not me.
