Lets be real, voice chat will be as "opt in" as pinging.

Like you think it will be required? I only see VC as working for high elo players. Us lower ranked players and normal game players are not gonna have such a good time in VC. Unless of course, those guys who want to flame people in chat all game are reluctant to do so in voice chat. Since I have, at one time, played CoD I don't see them changing.

I use to have a good group of friends that I'd play League with (still a good group of friends, just less interested in League) and we'd be on voice chat all the time. It was pretty clear that those who primarily played with voice chat pinged infrequently, even when it wasn't a 5 man group. A few of us made conscious efforts to ping more, but not everyone does (there's a reason "lack of communication" is a complaint with 4 man groups).

Only a year after the new champ select, people complain about being asked to know every role decently in Ranked. You think they'll maintain pinging everything a year from now, or that new players will bother with the ping system? Voice chat will be all or nothing, regardless of if you have to check a box or not.

voice chat would be the best for league. all the 10 year olds won't be able to flame anymore and overall teamwork of the game will improve

When I do play with friends we link the discord or tell them we are on skype. We give them the option to join us. They never do. Why would they with VC? I'm to the point with toxicity in game now that the first time someone is negative, flaming, and toxic instead trying to suggest how someone can improve their play or maybe help them in some way they get muted. I don't even give them a second chance. Also, I don't think the 10 year olds will stop flaming in voice chat. Have you played Call of Duty?

1stly: ofc they won't join you in discord cause 1) they are afraid their IP can be compromised, and 2) discord doesn't allow reporting verbal abuse :P

2ndly: have you ever played CS:GO or Overwatch? They are more popular games than CoD. All the 10 year old russians shut the hell up when they see you are older than them. The same will happen in league.

I play Overwatch as much as I play league. I haven't encountered 10-year-old Russians... i have encountered grown adults acting like idiots in voice chat. I am American, though, so maybe it's just different servers/experiences. Also, If someone is verbally abusing you on Discord you just leave it lol. That's what I would do anyways. We are always friendly in chat so why would they be afraid to be abused in discord? it doesn't add up.

It was fake as you can see, it even said "A few weeks from now in patch 7.12" Current patch is 7.10 So no worries, Today is not the Day VC is confirmed

I heard (nothing confirmed, mind you) that some rioter's account got hacked. I must say, If i wanted to troll with the account of a Rioter, i'd probably think of something funnier xD
