That's why they dismantled GD. They were tired of people justifiably complaining about their atrocious service of late and decided to do this to silence us. Disgraceful company.
Or maybe it had something to do with the fact that GD was like 70% shitposting or complaining about the "OP Champ of the Week"?

That was the best part about it, Mr. WhiteKnight. If you didn't like it, you could have gone to reddit or the boards.

I'd love to hear the explanation of why any of that benefited the community.
No, seriously. I've got to hear this.

It was something the community LOVED. It was well established and there was no point in removing it.
That doesn't explain why the zero/next-to-zero moderation model should have stayed. And 'well established' isn't a reason. Stoning people in the streets and public hangings were 'well established' at one point.
And then there's the fact that people were downloading FEK just to be able to blacklist people so they wouldn't have to see it.
So I'll ask the question again. WHY was this a good thing? Was it something that was just necessary to pacify a certain subset of users? Did it create some necessary niche in the community that needed serving?
Was it the community or just you and several people that liked the attention?
Okay I have two points.
no that was not the best part about it...

As if this won't happen on Plebbit 2.0 anyway.
If its not what people want to see, then no, it won't happen. It will get downvoted out of our sight. This will be the true test to see if these types of posts are really the popular ones or not.
Not true in the slightest. If I care about a thread enough to vote on it Up or Down. I'm usually interested enough to see how it plays out. Popular opinion or niche opinion. Positive or negative. Just because a thread is heavily down-voted does not mean people don't want to see or discuss it. It doesn't mean that in the slightest. I don't know what kind of positive fairy-land you live in where only positivity is worth discussing.
Btw... there is no point in responding to me to get my attention because due to the nature of this board I will not find this post again after I leave for something in a few minutes.

LOL you don't know how to look in the top right corner and see your updates? That's easily my favorite feature about Boards.
As for "heavily down-voted" things...if they get upvoted and downvoted a lot, they will still be visible. So controversial topics are actually more visible. Just be sure to use the "Hot" tab under the Boards logo.

Disgraceful? Dude... Just... ehhhh, internet.
Not having to watch circlejerking and shitposting is the main draw of the boards. Good riddance.

You do understand the irony in that, right?
Game of Thrones has pretty good drama, friend.
Have you not visited the new GD? It's nothing but complaining.
I for one am glad all of that nonsense is gone. That garbage is the cancer that was killing GD. Instead of letting it fester, Riot put it down mercifully with a bullet to the head.
This isn't very relevant but i love your username
If you're looking for Drama, I suggest opening an account on Twitter and learning about #GamerGate. *ducks*

You make a valid point. Discussion that's exclusively about one subject does not engender a feeling of community. :(
bump
How's this? (Note, you can also find this on the sidebar to the left, under 'GD').
The Boards main page does not show anything that was posted in GD. If you want GD, you have to go to GD.
Whoever thinks that these boards won't be the same eventually are kidding themselves.
This might help.
lol...
i do not get it. You have GD here, what is wrong with this one?
Indeed, there's something about competition, no matter how stupid it is, that gets us going. Even subatomic particles spar before they realize "we can't work" or "we work".
Go watch fucking Honey BooBoo or Jerry Springer.
