it's a decent idea, but it loses the effectiveness of forums, which is essentially near equality among people.

Yeah I never really liked that about reddit...Like of course some comments are going to always be seen: they are upvoted, people see them, they upvote again. It's this self-fulfilling cycle. Basically whoever reads the first few comments decides what gets seen.

Also... the replies ugh. What's wrong with just quoting someone? We need multiple-tiered reply trees?
