why do people keep saying bump in the comment section i don't get it

bump = bring up my post
commonly used these days on threads that have been pushed off the first/front page and get them visibility usually for relevancy to something that has recently happened or an attempt to see if other people will comment on it or notice it for other reasons, like bumping organized team threads in team recruitment instead of remaking them over and over.
