Why Reddit style?

I don't fully understand why we're exploring a Reddit style "forum" when what we have works just fine...this seems like a waste of resource for a less appealing style overall. I hate using Reddit because of the appearance, and now (if this goes through) I'll likely use the LoL one less as well.
