Boards Needs A Linux Section

While the linux crowd might not be as plentiful to the boards here as windows users, obviously, I can count more than 20 of my friends who play league on linux, and including me, there are definitely more than that small handful of linux league players.

The linux board would be good for people who have different OS's that they use. While it may seem wierd to say that one linus OS works differently than another OS, it is true. There are different factors to take into consideration. There are some generalizations like linux drivers for different cards, but I can definitely say that Arch linux will have different packages available compared to Ubuntu. Also take into consideration that hardware differences can cause problems with how the installation process will go. Using Nvidia may have different issues over using ATi (amd if you want to call it that). DIfferent processors may do differently with microcode changes (most of the time not much will happen but I have seen an AMD FX chip be easier to work on as a platform for playing league than a Phenom). Also packages; using PlayOnLinux or Wine flat-out will have different ways to install.

In my case I stream from linux. Because of this I have to use the proprietary drivers to have 60+ FPS. When I install I have to completely replace DirectX and some other components to get the game to run. In some OS's I may not even have to replace Direct X packages because the game client can see other packages that will work just fine that Wine or PlayOnLinux will offer up; Arch linux is my example of not needing to replace packages, while on Ubuntu based distros I have to replace packages. This is just an example, but I feel it is a good one.

The other thing I want to point out is sometimes there might be weird hardware issues between OS's for something like laptops or wierd desktop builds. Having a linux board available would allow for people to bring up these use cases that cause them issues.

In short, just adding a topic area would be cool for linux users to easily share info instead of scouring the internet for a dodgy forum that may or may not have an answer that probably won't work. And in the eventual point that you guys may or may not play with a linux client it would be a good place to post results :P

Thanks guys.
