What's up with the login queue

I just tried to login, but it said my position in queue was over 20000... so I waited and waited... my login position is number one, but it won't login, and it just stays at one second of wait time. Sometimes it flashes to two seconds or three seconds, and that position check in circle clock thingie just keeps goin round. So what's goin on?
