Welcome to the Big Plays Spotlight! In this feature, we highlight the most epic plays, from meticulously-coordinated early tower dives to mind-blowing cross-map jukes.

Gnar’s Rage meter is tricky, but managing it with precision enables him to bait the enemy and get away with ultra-aggressive plays.

Giving the Missing Link a spin, GuLe utilizes Gnar’s kit to max potential, boldly chasing down Katarina and transforming into Mega Gnar for the health spike at just the right moment. Not only did the Diamond 1 player calculate Gnar’s Rage like a pro, he baited out Katarina’s Flash without burning his own.

Can you try and focus these videos on teamwork instead of single person plays? Not that they aren't impressive, they certainly are, but the majority of the easily influenced players should be shown examples of groups working together, because that's the most important thing in the game. Most people seem to want to play a one man show, and doing things like exemplifying coordination would help that at least a little bit.

Heck maybe you should start posting one man show failure videos, just to show people what happens most of the time when people ignore everyone and try to go do everything alone :)

Well, they do have some showcases about some insane teamfight wombos, like the trist ult into wukong ult into vlad ult, into amumu (I think?) ult. That was some pretty awesome teamwork there.

I like this idea, but the problem here is finding sometimes hectic teamfight videos where players can clearly see the action, and where everything goes right for one team. It's a good idea; I personally think they should do both. But, you have to admit it could be a challenge to find hidden gems like that.

Should probably take on Protatomonster, he made excellent top 5 team play vids, including slow-mo play-by-plays with character highlight for clarity. Something like that would be excellent to see from Riot as a regular feature.

They do have videos that focus solely on teamwork. It's Protatomonster Top Plays Teamwork Edition. They've showcased them on the main page several times. I don't see anything wrong with also highlighting individual success.

Unfortunately however, it seems that protato stopped making them as the last one came out many months ago while before then they were almost a monthly thing.

This is really great feedback. You're absolutely right. While individual skill is awesome to see now and then, at the end of the day, League is really about teamwork. We'll see what we can do =) but feel free to help us out by suggesting any plays that may come to mind!

But Gnar never flashed...?

He just transforms into Mega Gnar. On the bottom-left you can clearly see the cooldown on his flash never resets.

Not just that, the play they just showd was more about luck than skill,

I love to watch a great play, for example, the very first insec at worlds...breathless!

the flash taunt from shen in the OGN finals (hitting 4 people at different angles, for those who havent seen it)

but this play, just wreaked of luck, a nice chase for sure, but the flash AND passive combo, just looked lucky...not a highlight for me and will sit at the back of all time plays

I don't get this 'play'. Gnar towerdives Katarina making himself low and then ignites Kat when she wouldn't survive 2 ticks, but continues to chase dispite Kat's certain death. Kat uses the opportunity to jump on Gnar and kill him but misclicks and dies to ignite and Gnar's reflexes would've been too slow if Kat hadn't misclicked, you can see he activates his ult to transform a split second after Kat used her combo. The only thing that took skill there was looking at the rage bar and saying, it's 80% full, I can get full rage soon and I doubt he planned to transform as the last tower shot came to him. It's not a bad play (i'll still say gj to the Gnar if I was his teammate), but it was the mistakes that got him into that clutch position and the Kat's mistakes that saved him. Plus i've healed off dmg with manual tranform as well so many times. I probably sound like a hater right now, but I was quite disappointed when I saw the video and I just think this is an everyday play, not a big play.

I normally love the big plays, but I agree that this was just poor playing. Any bronze can tower dive like that. I don't really see any big outcome from diving a tower and a half deep and taking five shots then blowing ult to just barely survive that fifth hit with the hp boost. He could've used W to get the same hp with a lower cooldown. Normally I love the big plays spotlight, but this one doesn't belong here. Not flaming, and I'm sorry for being critical. I sure as hell am not going to be Diamond I anytime soon, I applaud this player for that achievement, but not for this deep dive and lucky outcome.

If you look man, Kat actually uses her Flash and not her Shunpo. It wasn't a misclick. I agree though that Kat should've killed Gnar. If she had just tried to fight under the tower she probably could've won. I also agree that this is a good play, albeit a little lucky and really risky (facechecking the brush is bad, facechecking the enemy jungle is worse), but not something that I would call a big play. If only everyone had an integrated recording program to record every game, we might see some of the truly deserving Big Plays.

RIGHT?? Riot needs to implement their own in-game "LoLReplay", so that we don't have to refer to a third party program that is barely updated and breaks every patch. I recall them attempting it because I remember watching old PBE vids showcasing a "watch replay" button in the recent matches window. What happened to that Rito???

He ulted to cause the transformation early, rather than waiting the full 4 seconds. You can see the minions get thrown toward the wall when he does it.

Actually, something was missed here. Gnar had taken, what, 5 turret shots from the first one? Had he not been in range of the second turret to make its first hit, he would've died to a 6th shot from the outer turret, even with his passive. The fact that he dove that deep that the second tower focused him for one shot, which went back to basic damage instead of the increased, is really smart, plus using the timing with his passive.

I thought it was pretty impressive to see someone perfectly time a Mega Gnar transformation to tank an otherwise-lethal turret shot. That's really hard to do...

All I do is bait people into my Mega Gnar form, It's so stupid later game when you gain like 50 rage in 2 second of doing anything People ask me "How u get so much rage so fast" after I bashed their face into the wall This isn't really a big play, It's more of a timed play, could even be pure luck smashing the keyboard

Can we do a spotlight for the Talon in the video? He instant popped lee, took the ignite from Kat, and barely escaped the 2nd tower shot. Basically what Gnar did with more efficiency.

Not much of a 'play' when it clearly looks more like a hungry dive and getting ultra lucky; there was no logical need to try and go for the kill when Katarina backed with the lane pushed.

I dunno, guess I'd rather enjoy the plays like that insane Renekton 1v5 with only a Hydra.

The Renekton 1v5 was amazing. This wasn't a bad "play", but it's definitely nothing special. It was just some familiarity with Gnar. He knew how much he could take and how much damage he could deal and got a kill thanks to it. The real issue with this is that it was boring as hell to watch. There wasn't much action, and it's something that has been done many times with other champs. Riot just wants to showcase their new champion.

I just had a game yesterday as Gnar where I jumped into the enemies mid outer turret bouncing off the first person, killing him, then flashing forward ult killing two more for the triple. that kind of dive is what we need to see on here. Not one kill -_- I don't have a recorder or I would submit it. Riot when are we gonna have a replay system implicated!?

I normally love watching these, but this one seems based on way more luck and bad mechanics than skill. Looked more like a really thirsty dive than a carefully calculated ult with the expectation of living.

With my experience with Gnar, that was luck more than skill. Only skill I see is "hey I am close to transforming so hopefully I can change in time so I guess I can turret dive."

Can we get some bronzie players ever? That'd be funny because stuff like this happens in low elo all the time, it's just the player gets random luck and stuff lol

I love playing gnar, I get told alot that I'm a very good gnar player. I dont know if my plays r post worthy tho XD nothing special, and I dont think encouraging players to go 1v 2 or 3 is a good thing tho, especially since I find that gnar is weak against champs like mord, sometimes riven, sometimes vlad, and if you dont get the first kill and kill him early: nasus. I've actually have had ppl ask me about how I play gnar and how I build him as well, honestly I've used the guide that riot provided as a basis for my gnar item build, basis in the sense that he only provided items that he usually uses, and doesnt provide how he builds into these items, but useful all the same.
