You can do that for the same reason Lee Sin can flash while casting his ult. You can flash during the wind-up animation before the damage/knockback is applied but I'm sure you know that. For Cait you can flash while she sets up her ult before the target and line appears.

I think you can flash during some channeled abilities. Common examples were Thresh hook and Shen taunt before they got nerfed.

She flashed after the ult wind-up started but before the channel started, if she had waited like 0.1 seconds longer it would have cancelled her ult.

It always irks me when I see stuff like this and then people say "good reflexes" because it was so close. The earlier a reflex happens, the better the reflexes are. This was the latest possible time to use flash so this would be the slowest reflexes before you start getting negative results (i.e Cait dying from Lee Q). A good reflex would be flashing as soon as you see Lee's animation for his Q. Not trying to downplay the Cait, it was an excellent play, I'm trying to downplay the fact that people label stuff like this as good reflexes. You can also see the late heal after Lee's R, you can definitely say that was slow reflexes.

If it was the case where Cait was actually trying to flash at the last moment then that would be called good timing, not reflexes.

In reality, I believe Lee Sin was in the Fog of War. The video is showing both teams' line of sight.

Cait actually messed that up really badly. She didn't have to flash if she didn't walk straight into his range, and the only reason she got kicked in the first place is because she messed up her kiting. Definitely not a "big play".

She actually didn't start the channel until after the flash. There's a moment in caitlyn's ult where she "picks" her target (the moment before the flash in this "big play"), and if the target can break vision during that moment, they can actually cancel caitlyn's Ult, putting it on a 5 second cooldown. On the other hand, during this moment apparently you can buffer in a flash at the right moment and she'll start channeling the actual ult after she flashes.

Which has now opened up so many new ways to play Caitlyn for me. I know countless times the enemy adc is about to walk into FOW, but i dont cast my ult because the support is standing right infront of me to body block. Now, i can cast my ult and flash to get them before they enter FOW but still be able to line up a shot!

it didnt cancel her ult because when she flashed she was still doing the animation to move into the channel. so she wasnt really ulting she was just moving to ult. i think thats what is going on here.

Great job dodging the Sonic Wave. Great use of a bug for killing Lee. Casting Flash should have interrupted her ultimate, or she shouldn't have been able to cast Flash (depending on whether you can self-cancel Caitlyn's ultimate). I can't help but feel like the bug-abuse distracts/over-rules the "play".

It is somewhat of a bug but it's more of part of how caitlyn's ult works. I explain exactly how it works here, which is just a reply to a post a few up in the discussion.

TB;DC (too boring; didn't click)

Caitlyn's ult has 2 stages, one where she "picks" the target (.3-.5 seconds), and if the target goes into FoW during this portion it puts her ult on a 5 seconds, and one where she's actually channeling the ultimate, which can be cancelled. While she's in that first stage of her ultimate, stuns, silences, etc. will cancel her ult, as with the second stage, but she can still flash around it. Either that or she flashed after the first stage but before the second stage.
