Welcome to the Big Plays Spotlight! In this feature, we highlight the most epic plays, from meticulously-coordinated early tower dives to mind-blowing cross-map jukes.

Part of the strategy behind League is a solid understanding your team’s win conditions. Here, Blue team’s high-damage assassin comp isn’t designed for a straight-up team fight. They don’t want a fair fight; they’re looking for vision control, a numbers advantage, and the element of surprise.

With that mind, 장래희망 김정유, a Gold-ranked support main on Janna, makes the most of Baron and her team’s vision control to create a pick opportunity. Seeing a gap between Lucian and the rest of his team, Janna aggressively Flash ults to sever the marksman from his front line. Akali, Ryze, and Yi seize this opportunity by bursting down their first victim and continuing to snowball their numbers advantage. By the time Zed joins the party, the fight's already over.

The part that her team actually reacted to her flash ulting correctly is probably the more impressive part of this 90% of the time in silver/gold elo you jana ult the carries away so ur team can focus down the tanks in a similar set up and you see your teammates chasing the person u ulted out of the fight and rage that u ulted them away....

Actually after seeing this I played Janna and made this exact play, successfully, only one enemy got away. I am in Bronze III, I am expecting big things from you high elos in NA

Nope. Because someone took Sin Hyeonsu's video and uploaded it somewhere else. Just because it features League of Legends doesn't mean he can't file a copyright claim for them using a video HE made and uploaded.

But it isn't riots videa it wasn't uploaded by someone other than riot thats why on this sight it isn't taken down but on youtube since someone other than the maker posted it (not riot) the maker was allowed to file a copyright claim, Claim respect 1 riot 2 maker 3 uploader the maker is allowed to make copyright claim on the uploader who was not riot.

This is actually not that great of a play.

She burned two high cooldowns for something that could have been accomplished with one spell.

The Q she launched was really early. The enemy team was face checking baron. Had Janna anticipated their path and charged the Q instead, launching it at full power, she actually would have CC'd Amumu/Leona/Garen for half a second longer, giving her team a much better opportunity to delete amumu in that time - while still having flash + monsoon available should Vayne get into trouble (or to heal up any damage lucian would get in).

This is flashy, but was totally unnecessary and only worked because they were so far ahead already (full health, baron buff, clearly ahead considering how quickly amumu blew up) her team would have lost that engage otherwise. Zed being late didn't help the enemy team either.

They couldn't have been face-checking baron since zed was following vayne and the minions saw her with the buff, if Janna had not taken this opportunity then who knows, the other team could have gotten away and come back to win.

It doesnt matter about the what-ifs, the fact is that what she did worked. The spells hit, waiting another second opens another can of worms, maybe waiting that extra second would have allowed the other team to position themselves in a manner the play would not have happened. They didnt need a better opportunity to delete amumu, the play was successful in netting them the fight. Honestly if I was Zed i wouldnt have engaged at that point, many players don't know when to fight and when its better to just let a team-mate die. My group of friends I constantly stress to them that you have to pick your battles, dying sucks but why give the team anymore kills than you have to? I have seen people yell and scream in randoms because I didnt go into a 1v5 that killed them.. Feed more or Hold a tower? Thats my logic

She burned her flash, and ultimate, while there is a zed on the other team. That, in any mildly-high level game, is the dumbest thing you could ever do - especially with a hyper carry like vayne.

I am 100% sure that the enemy team was blind face checking. Otherwise, Amumu would have Q'd in to that Akali, and/or Leona would have ulted them. If Zed was decently in position to engage the vayne as soon as that Janna wasted her ult, and Janna's team wasn't so far ahead in gold, this fight would have gone extremely poorly for her team.

There was no big play here, it was just Janna being random as hell with her flash ultimate and it happened to work because of how far ahead her team was. There was a much cleaner engage opportunity (charged Q) which didn't totally expose her AD carry.

You are right. It's no big deal when your team is so far ahead. Otherwise Janna's ult would have been a great mistake because it gives Amumu a perfect position to ult, and then Leona's and then there is no then.

Just a quick thought, you guys are all assuming that amumu ult was even up....which is borderline ridiculous. This is a korean player at gold. She knows when amumus ult is up. FFS think before you post. Stop trying to one up people and showcase your amazing play

Who's to say the Janna didn't understand the power of her team's lead at this point? All we can do is speculate about whether he had evaluated his team's buff and/or gold advantage, his opponents' ult CDs, or the opponents' vision, but whether or not it was wisdom, intuition, or dumb luck that guided the player to flash-ult here doesn't really matter in this venue. He did it, his team followed up, it all worked out beautifully. End of story. GG WP blue team.

Because it wasn't a big play, it was just Janna randomly blowing cooldowns. "We're ahead, let's do something stupid!" is not grounds for a big play either, so I don't see your point.

I just expect a big play to actually some game-changing or game-winning set ups/out plays. There is no big play here at all.

Do you ever watch featured games? Janna Mechanics is one of the top Janna mains out there. and I've spectated them many times (I, too, am a Janna main). And it's true, flash ult is 99% of the time a bad idea that leaves you exposed and gets you killed for little benefit. Yes, it has its uses and it's a flashy play, but they're right that predicted, charged Qs are Janna's bread and butter. They're not as flashy or obvious, but you'll see them in high level Janna play where they understand Q as a zoning tool.

Janna is a fun, clutch champion. And watching this was fun, because I always love to see Janna win, so I don't want to take away from what this guy did, but Janna Mechanics has a good point here.

Just throwing this in, but being a top Janna main doesn't make anyone right 100% of the time about Janna. Anyone can watch a video and go "If they would have done this, it would have been better." And if they didn't do it, it could have been worse. And if they did it badly, it could have gone less good. And if the enemy team did this, then that wouldn't have happened. And if enemy ADC was in this position, this wouldn't have worked.

Seems to me like Janna was going to charge her Q to inhibit the enemy team, saw how Lucian was lagging behind, and immediately responded to flash-ult breaking up the team. It's easy to watch a video and point out all the things that weren't needed, it's another thing to be in that exact same position, and stop to analyze every aspect of the game at that given moment and not waste any energy, or cooldowns, or anything else. Shit happens, sometimes people use spells when they're not needed. That's part of the game. The point of the matter, is Janna was there, and she made big plays. That's what this is about. Not "The best Janna player ever making the best play ever." No, it's about big plays.

It was a play that probably resulted in winning the game. No "Doesn't matter, they were so far ahead." No "If she did this differently she would have achieved the same result." What she did, at that moment, worked, and it probably resulted in winning the game. She has a good point about what could have been done for 100% maximum Janna efficiency, but she's completely wrong about it not being a big play.

If you look carefully, you can see that the opposing team didn't even do anything "pro". Zed had the opportunity to escape, but tried to kill Vayne instead. Garen just used his q and then spun, and then if you watch after that he just stands in one place basic attacking and then ulted which did nothing to help his team. It only looks pro because Janna made a smart move and the team did what any team would've done.
