Aren't There Acceptable Reasons to Leave a Game?

I was playing a round of 5v5 against bots earlier when I needed to change the children's diapers. I was gone for maybe 10 minutes, and had warned my team before I left that I had to change two diapers and would be back soon. I return to a LeaverBuster notification saying I had been reported and had to wait 10 minutes before I could be sorted into any queue, for I don't even know how many future games.

So, I guess my question here is this: How would one go about reversing it if at all possible, or do the staff even read the chats that happened at the time that the incident took place? Because getting banned because you had unavoidable, legitimate reasons to put real life first before a video game is, for lack of a better term, complete and total BS :/

If your having a "good enough" reason to leave games often enough to get punished....... then you should not be queuing up. You Don't get Low priority queue for one afk...... You get it for a history of them.

I have children. I don't play while watching them. I make sure my time is clear when I play league. I know that things in real life can and will happen. I had to leave a game because someone I knew died and I have left a game because my wife had issues with the car. I also left a game because of a electrical outage(my battery back up failed due to a surge and it wasn't during a storm.......).

All of these are good reasons to leave a game. However they also will never happen often enough for me to get punished.

If it's a bots game where they'll just win 4v5, buy a sunfire cape first and make sure autoattack is turned on.

Then, when you need to AFK, just AFK at wolves; you'll fight constantly enough with autoattack (with their camp spawn timer) to not get flagged afk while you're out.

You can't prove you were really changing diapers. If Riot let people off the hook for that, everyone would claim it when they want to quit a game.

if it's important enough, then what happens to your account shouldn't matter honestly. if you know there is a risk of changing your children's diaper, then don't play until they are asleep or another time when you are free. it's not fair or enjoyable for others if you do it enough times and 10 minute wait times for games isn't too bad. it can get worse the more often you leave games which is fair.

In general Going AFK Because of a toxic player on your team isn't acceptable usually muting a player and continue to play is the best thing to do even when your team is losing, there are some cases however when I think going AFK should be acceptable (Given the fact) I have proven (Riots System To Be Flawed) A week ago I had a toxic player steal my role in Ranked, and Flat out troll me I tried to play the game and (Feed) Got banned for Intentional feeding one game and I think ti would be better if I get trolled by toxic players like this to just (AFK) or disconnect from the game and take (LPQ) penalty instead of (FEEDING) and getting banned for ( 2 weeks) because a toxic player chooses to troll and there is no other options open for me in that specific game getting banned for feeding for 2 weeks over one game is flat out stupid, and the automated system proves it with this snapshot.

Riot needs to take a better stance, and look at future instances of players who Feed when a player has their role stolen and can't play worth a damn especially in rare instances such as that game I was clearly banned for and being trolled hard still tried to do something but couldn't do shit...

Next Time Riot, ( I am going AFK and disconnecting from the game.) Its Rare that I get players who (Steal Role) and grief but in the event I know I am likely going to feed hard because I can't play I am just leaving the game its like 1 out of every 300 games or so that I have encountered players doing this.

Then I will manually file a support ticket to Riot with my reason for going AFK in the game and the offending players name so it can be manually action by Riot because im sick of these type of trolls not just in League But DOTA 2 too especially today the worst of my days.

So in cases like this I would say just leave take a LPQ penalty instead of a 2 week ban, and I truly understand how it effects 3 other players besides yourself on the team, so if there is truly another option like if you had your lane stolen and you were Jax Top, you could likely go Jax Jungle and do better than I did with Sona Jungle so leaving isn't an excuse then.

Also funny thing is I have done 5 games of DOTA 2 today, and 4 games I had my Role Stolen ( I feed like crazy) haven't been banned, everyone ends up feeding, and the ((Single Game)) Where I was allowed to play my role and not trolled my K/D/R Was actually better not claiming to be pro on that game but rather make a point that players who do role stealing behavior have a huge impact on the game.

The only other time you should ever go AFK is if there is a Real Life Emergency, Sadly going AFK as well because you need to change your baby's diapers won't be an excuse you need to make sure you do this earlier before you start the game because of Real Life too much going AFK does get you banned too and LPQ status..

Okay so someone needs me to call 911 In Real Life, or someones Kid has fallen down and hurt themselves...

What should one do while playing League OF Legends???

Should they go to help, or wait 30 minutes for the game to maybe end?

redniwediS4/26/2016, 5:35:09 AM1 votes

The wait timer is basically just there to say "we understand there are reasons to leave, but it effects other players when you do, so here's a light slap on the wrist".

It's not a real punishment and doesn't effect your account's standing. If you leave often enough it can lead to a real punishment, but if you are leaving for legitimate reasons that often you should be picking better times to play a video game.

So don't worry about it. It's a short time out, not a ban.

LoL is different from most other games. There are 4 others on your team, and leaving turns it into a 4v5 and leaves your team with an inherent disadvantage. LoL doesn't just find someone to fill your spot like most FPS games. Because 4 other people are relying on you to participate, it's your responsibility to do so if you queue up. I'd recommend only playing if you have at least an hour that should be either uninterrupted, or only very slightly so that you can do things during the death timers.

You had to have left more than 2 games for the leave buster to give you a penalty que.

SmokedAlmonds4/26/2016, 12:27:37 PM1 votes

The reason for someone leaving isn't considered, only that you left. The reasons can't be verified and honestly, I don't think I want them considered anyway. It is each person's responsibility to make sure they have enough uninterrupted time to finish a game.

No one is saying that you shouldn't prioritize your children over a game. What we are saying is that you need to put more consideration into if that is going to make you leave a game before you queue up. If you are responsible for taking care of a kid at a given moment, you probably shouldn't be trying to squeeze in a league game. A kid with a dirty diaper isn't exactly a surprise and it isn't even remotely the only thing that a kid can pull you away from the game for. Every time you leave a game you waste at least 20 minutes of 4-9 people's lives. Can you really expect strangers to be ok with that? The loss of one person for even a short amount of time essentially nullifies the whole game.

On another note, you are definitely leaving something out here. You only mention leaving the one time in your original post and I only saw you mention 1 other leave in another reply. 2 leaves doesn't add up to a 10 minute low priority queue. Your first leave you would have gotten the big warning message that has you type "I agree". After that I think it technically can only take 1 more leave to get a 5 min Low priority queue but I cant recall anyone ever getting the first punishment for less than 3 leaves. So I think that is kinda reserved for a newer player that leaves 2 out of their first 3 games or something. So you are leaving out(intentional or not) at least 1 other time you left, but realistically at least 2.

leavebuster doesnt work on "some guy reading chat" its an automated system and even when nobody reports you, the leavebuster gets alerted as soon as you leave and gives you a strike. too many of them and he punishes you. even when nobody reported you.
