I was recently banned for "MMR Boosting" recently and I was quite taken aback. I've been the only one to play my account ranked since I've gotten it and felt I worked fairly hard dealing with AFKs/Rage/ etc that we all have to deal with on the rift to get there. So I made a ticket, asking for evidence that my account was boosted. Well after 2 weeks (the full suspension) of back and forths between myself and a member of the Player Behaviour Team I was informed that they cannot provide evidence and that I am without a doubt guilty. Well I beg to differ, I feel I'm quite innocent, so I kept pushing. Turns out, they don't need a reason to ban you, suspend you, take away your rewards, they do what they want when they want because you've signed the most dodgy terms of service in the history of gaming. Here's one for you.

E. Suspension/Termination. By Riot Games. RIOT GAMES RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SUSPEND, TERMINATE, MODIFY OR DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON OR NO REASON, WITH OR WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU, AND WITH NO LIABILITY OF ANY KIND TO YOU. Some of you may post "you're just mad you got caught etc etc" feel free to feel that way. I didn't boost my account but literally was suspended with no way to counter argue or hope to get back the things I worked hard for. It can literally happen to any of you here as it happened to me.

That agreement isn't dodgy, that's standard. I don't know what evidence they used to convict you so I can't really comment on the bans validity.

Typically they aren't. Especially when he already tried a ticket and got a "we aren't going to help you" response.

I did make a ticket, all I got was "you're guilty get over it" I asked for evidence so I could argue my case a little bit, got me nowhere.

The only irregularity on my account should be IP address and that's because I'm military I move around/travel quite a bit and play. I'm making this post because Riot suspended my account/stripped my rewards for no reason other than they can.

The point of this thread is "Riot made you agree to a standard EULA to play their game, and OP didn't read it until now". Want proof that not owning your account is standard practice?

This isn't "Dodgy" in the least bit, it's industry standard. Just because you and your duo partner think it's fair or not is irrelevant.

Yes, in the same way you would get a ticket for a "traveling violation" without them telling you what the traveling violation was. I agree with OP that it's BS.

The reason they won't divulge their detection methods is due to the fact that it would make it easier to circumvent.

EDIT: Touching back on your first point, over half the thread refers to what he calls "dodgy" ToS conditions. At that point, I believe his ban is more of a footnote.

If their methods are so sure fire and accurate, it wouldn't matter if they told this person why they came to the conclusion that he was cheating. I'm still unaware of how knowing police have radar guns leads to it being easier to circumvent (whatever that word means lel).

As I said, I was unaware. I now see that. I was probably unaware because they aren't allowed or common...in which case if someone were using a program to "get around" their detection methods that are 100% accurate, rito would also see that they are using a 3rd party program...which is punishable by itself. So I still don't see how them explaining why they believe he MMR boosted would lead to people getting around it.

There are ways to get around that, even. People get around Vale Anti-Cheat by piggybacking the cheat off of the Microsoft NET framework. It complicated as all fuck to do, but it is possible.

wow, that's messed up. people who haven't even done anything wrong in their entire time on league could have their accounts deleted, regardless of all the money they put into it, just because riot felt like it.....

i'm not saying i have some kind of rights or ownership over my account, im well aware that it's riot's property, just like pretty much every other account i've ever signed up for. but it's weird that riot actually deletes people's accounts just for the hell of it.

That is not at all riot banning people for the hell of it. They believe he is guilty. It is possibly that they were wrong but we don't know if he's guilty.

And I admit I did just blindly accept it, but it has come back to bite me in the ass. I'm just raising some awareness as to how powerless we are and they can just say "we feel like you're bad, #suspend"

Yep, such is the problem with all video games. If it makes you feel better pretty much every corporation you are involved with can do the same thing. Corporate protection laws and corporate lawyers are completely out of control in this country.
