Hide mastery points option

Will the mastery point on display ever go away. I love but one character in the game Riven. Ever since I started playing Riven I've been a 1 trick. I quickly acquired over 1 million mastery points on her within the first year, but I'm still not that great with the game or even her. I get by people with less than 10k mastery point, so why do I need extra attention? More camps, more expectations. Every game I'm expected to be as good as Boxbox, it's always noted and made aware, and when I play the game poorly I get severely bullied. I used to love playing this game, but now a days I don't even want to log on. I used to play competitively every day 4 years ago, but now I've since quit the game entirely. I check back into the game after years of inactivity, but I'm still harassed because of my mastery? How is this still a thing?! I've seen so many forums and complaints about this issue. Will it ever be addressed? Can I play who I want to play and not be harassed about it? It's not as big of a deal for high elo players. I'm sure they wouldn't miss it if it was removed or able to be private. But it's a big deal for low elo player cause all we get is harassment.

Mastery points don't have to be removed, but I'm asking if it can be hidden. It's my accomplishment, shouldn't I chose who to share that with? Otherwise they use it against me, and I am then always at a disadvantage.

I don't like this idea. I get what you're saying, but as a JG main, I need to know which enemies to be careful with.

Just deal with it. Mastery only means you play the champion a lot, which anybody can see with op.gg anyways.

Yeah as an OTP Shen I find it frustrating as well. I play shen Top who has very difficult matchups. Shen is designed to help others and not win lanes except for some exceptions. So most of the times I'll get a jungler who refuses to gank because I am a 1 M shen and should be able to carry on my own. Or when I die once i nlane they start spammign " 1 M shen btw". Have mastery points means 1 think only. I know my matchups. That's it. I wish we could turn it off.

It's league of 10 champions now. Any champion you get over a million mastery points that isn't popular or meta you'll be picked on for. Can't even play my mains anymore without someone typing some rude shit in the all chat. And I hate that people expect someone to be a "challenger" cause of their points. Why do I have to be ranked? Why can't I just enjoy the game in normal's?

I agree as well. It doesn't even have to be a million points or anything, but showing off any points at all is a personal preference. You can bring in the excuse of, "WELL WE CAN LOOK AT YOUR PROFILE HURR DURR", yeah mate, that's AFTER the game. I don't even care if you use an app to see how I finger my ass at that point, I just don't want to show my points at all. I don't have a million points on any champ, but I also don't like showing off even my 14k.

I agree with this alot. There is just no reason to do this except saying onetricks get more attention by all enemys because of their "x" million points that they are forced to show under loadscreen. Not only makes it games harder for otps, because everyone is aware of them and gives them "special treatment" but also it creates toxicity in case the otp does poorly, more so in lower Elos. But i doubt riot would ever do smth against it :b

I completely agree with this. I one trick thresh and have over 1 mil mastery with, however, ever since i started college i cant really play consistently taking like 2 month breaks due to it. It is very disheartening when i come back and dont preform like everyone assumes a 1 trick should, leading to my own team making shitty remarks. There should be a way to hide mastery points.

whyuinsultme1/28/2020, 4:16:06 PM2 votes

The problem is you are getting bullied because riot allows you to be bullied. It has nothing to do with mastery points. Take out mastery points and these people will go after you for something else.

I completely disagree with this, I like showing my mastery, and I like knowing who else has played their champion a ton so I can be wary of them.

Or big brain idea here, get good at the game.

OP, you can /mute all to begin with and avoid this. Or just make a new account to practice on! You only play Riven anyway so its not like you need to buy a bunch of champs which is an added bonus to you specifically. There have been lots of good suggestions like what you said. I remember a Draven posting something similar. But - Idk if it will be implemented. Its somewhat similar to a friend who was new to the game, bought a Xayah skin and then was bullied for using it. Next time I played with them, I saw them going with the default skin. Puzzled me so I asked and that's what I was told.

Mastery Points are a good thing because i can tell why someone on my team is trash because if they feed and have no mastery points it is obvious they just dont play that champ lot and i don't find my blood boiling do to losing a game. Now on the flip side if I see someone with high mastery i tend to be more wary as i expect they know something about their champ that i dont or are just really refined from just the hours logged
