How To: Reform! (Win More Games)
Toxicity isn't fun, it gets you mad, it gets other players mad, (not to mention you don't play well when you're mad!) and we don't play League to be mad do we? We play League to have a great time, and be competitive! So if you find yourself being negative or toxic in games, keep reading, see if any of this helps. I know it did for me, and I used to be pretty toxic so... [slayer-pantheon-thumbs] YEAH. Lets get going!
BTW: If you have any more tips or tricks on how to improve play attitude wise, lets see it in the comments!
NUMBA 1: CHAT Okay, most of the time, I give people the benefit of the doubt and keep them un-muted, and mute them if they start being negative or toxic. This in turn helps you not get frustrated at what they say, and then you don't fire back! A lot of arguments in game start from people giving "advice." You have to understand that telling people something they need to do in this game is taken 90% of the time as an insult, and even if they didn't, they aren't going to learn just from that comment. There's no way. It's really not worth it to start something that has a high chance of going wrong, EVEN IF it feels like you're just being nice and telling them something they need to know. The only way they're going to get better is from choosing to, after realizing their faults on their own. For the positivity aspect, praise your team-mates for things they did right! It could be something really small, like good CS. Encouragement ensures that people will keep doing what they're doing right, and you want them to do as much right as they can! (They don't have to be un-muted for you to compliment or encourage them.) Another thing, DO NOT be one of those people that says "GG" 10-15 minutes into the game. The fate of a game is definitely far from being decided most of the time, and with proper play, can be turned around. It really is super discouraging to see someone on your team give up and stop trying, so always keep doing your best. After all this, if you can't find the spirit to be encouraging or positive, just don't say anything at all, mute everyone, and try your best. (There's a thought that slipped from me while writing this... I'll come back to it later if I remember.)
NOOMBA 2: PINGS Pings are a crucial part of this game, we all know that. They can be used to win games. But God knows we all mis-use these from time to time. There just a few things to keep in mind when using pings here. List of things you DON'T want to do with pings, EVER. It could be the cause of a team-mate trolling, giving up, or playing much worse. DO NOT:
- Missing ping a bad play, or a failed fight. Most of the time, they're gonna know what they did wrong, right after it happens. They don't need someone else to come along and say "really? did you really just do that? what was that?" after they've made a mistake trying to do something. It's really tilting (although in some situations, very funny) in a wrong situation.
- Spam unnecessary pings. The more you spam ping, the more likely it is for your team to mute your pings, or ignore them in general. You want your team to respect your pings, and to realize them as a true form of communication. If you ping missing near their lane, you want them to think "I better be safe, my responsible team mate thinks there's someone nearby!" not "WOULD THIS GUY JUST STOP ALREADY?" Just don't spam!
NEMBAH 3: Player Interaction Your team mates are your tools for victory. You want to keep them in the best shape, and happiest as possible. Do what you have to in order to win, but keep in mind your mates are also trying to do that. So when you're ganking, or roaming, or around your team in game, try not to piss them off or tilt them by stealing unnecessary CS, stealing kills (unless you're adc), or other tilty things.
I'm gonna keep expanding this as I remember things, so feel free to let me know what you think! Happy Leaguing guys.
