Harsher Punishments for AFKs / Trolling / Flamers
I love this game. I hate the people who play it.
I think two things needs to happen in order for this game to move in a positive direction for the player base genuinely wanting to climb.
The first thing I think needs to happen is to establish an age bracket. 18+ and under 18. This would, in my opinion, fix a lot of matchmaking failures. In all other sports, there are age brackets. I believe that this eSport should apply an age bracket system to better group players with other players of similar maturity. Being 25, and playing with four 13 year old kids raging off hormones, protecting their fragile egos, and ultimately ruining the game experience, is more than frustrating to say the least. Now, if they demonstrate maturity and can play a full 40 minute game, with a mature, constructive attitude, GREAT! If not, I don't see the reason why we, as a community, continually allow immature behaved players to queue up another ranked game, only to unleash their emotions on the support that made a misplay.
The second thing I think needs to happen is a reform to the matchmaking system. The consistency of my games is nonexistent. One game I have decent players and a playable game. The next I have an afk support Teemo and the next I have a jungle yasuo. The next game if I am lucky enough to have all 5 members of my team, my adc is raging at my support, or my top laner complains about no ganks from jungle. I have been better this season about just muting all or whoever the negative players are on my team. But, this is still not enough and I am tired of taking responsibility for riots poor matchmaking system. I want to be clear that if there was some sort of consistency, where the games felt evenly matched, and all 5 players working towards the goal of winning, I would not have a problem. But, in reality this is just not the case. As I have previously stated, it is a complete toss up from game to game whether you will be playing a league of legends game, or a TDM free for all with two teammates afk and/or raging.
In my opinion, the punishments for raging / trolling / afk should not be a perma ban. But instead, should be something like 10 ranked queues banned, 25, 50, 100, banned for the season. This way we can filter out people who are queueing for ranked more for the entertainment of ruining someone elses game, than the diligence of becoming a better player. It is extremely hard to stay positive and focus on getting better for yourself, when you consistently have raging/trolling/afk players in your games. The focus turns from wanting to become a player, to trying not to gut the guy(or kid) on the other side of the monitor. I think that establishing a ranked suspension/ season ban will establish the tone of no-nonsense, we are here to play, ranked environment.
I realize the tribunal exists and that permabans do exist, however, I don't think it has improved my ranked game experience at all. And I mean 0, nada, zilch, nothing. From the time the tribunal was set up to now, the consistency of shitty matchmade games has remained constant. I still have the same trolls, flamers, afks. So this can only mean one of two things, either the tribunal flat out doesn't work(which I think the community and Riot already understand) or the way in which the tribunal is being applied is a flawed method.
I think that creating ranked suspension will give more incentive than just chat bans or permabans. I for one know that if I was punished for 50 ranked games and couldn't play until I completed 50 draft mode games, that I would be devastated knowing that I could not attempt to push my elo. The tone needs to be, if its not about the game, and its not constructive, that it should not be said. That if you afk in 2 or more games in the same week, that you need a weeks worth of banned ranked queues, to try to give some incentive and some understanding that it is not ok to sign up for ranked and then give up and afk when things get hard.
Matchmaking needs to be fixed maybe based on age brackets, or demonstrated account maturity (with the new honor system maybe?). I don't know I am just throwing out ideas. But it is just so difficult to enjoy this game when half the games I queue into, are played with miserable teammates.
Season ranked queue bans. 1 week ranked queue bans. 2 week ranked queue bans. 1 month ranked queue bans.
Age brackets or honor brackets to shed unwanted player base out of the ranked community. That way they can troll/flame/afk in all the normal games their heart desires.
It has been like 3 or 4 years since the tribunal has been set in place, and I would argue it has done absolutely nothing in controlling players behavior.
The new honor system sounds promising, but we will see which direction Riot takes it. It could just be another pointless gimmick that really has no effect on the community.
Tired of the inconsistency. This is the biggest reason I am posting. Inconsistent. Every game is a toss up.
Consistent skill level games win or lose is fine.
Having 10 year old Johnny on my team with 40 cs at 25 minutes and 1/11/2 who proceeds to blame his jungle, or 12 year old Janice who afks mid game because she felt her support should have saved her last play, or 16 year old Jack, who knows he can't climb elo, so he proceeds to attempt to tilt people in game with weird, non-team, objectively awkward plays, makes this game less than enjoyable.
Again, the game is great, the community is shit. I am not restating the wheel here. But the game has been out for quite some time now, and it feels as though there has been no time dedicated to improving the quality of games. Restating, the quality of games is inconsistent. Fix this. Please.
